IMG is bringing the excitement and energy of Fashion Week in New York to Houston, Dallas, Chicago, and San Francisco in March 2007 via FashionWeekLive, a consumer Fashion Week experience tour. As the only global producer of fashion week events, including the marquee Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York’s Bryant Park, as well as events in Los Angeles, London, Mumbai, Moscow, Berlin, Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore and Miami, IMG will launch the event in Dallas on March 6, taking it then to Houston on March 8, Chicago on March 13, and San Francisco on March 15.
“This project is the realization of one of the many opportunities I saw when Forstmann Little acquired IMG,” said Ted Forstmann, chairman and CEO of IMG, which also owns The Daily. “IMG’s fashion events have always been focused on a select group of industry insiders, and while it is important that we continue to build that business, I am enthusiastic that we are able to also create a dynamic platform that connects with consumers as we build FashionWeekLive around the world.”
The exclusive industry fashion event will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fashion trendsetters across the country to get a firsthand glimpse at selected looks from the Fall 2007 collections of America’s leading designers before they are in store windows or even in magazine layouts. A comprehensive list of participating designers will be announced at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, February 2—9, 2007.
“We have long sought a way to bring the glamour of our events to consumers,” said Fern Mallis, vice president of IMG Fashion. “Chicago, Houston, Dallas, and San Francisco are among the most fashion-savvy cities in the world, and there is a real interest in this sort of event, which will allow high-end consumers to take a look at the designers’ collections before they are available anywhere.”
The evening’s events in each market will include a special champagne reception and pre-event cocktail in a grand lobby similar to that of fashion weeks around the world. Guests will then be led into the show venue to enjoy the hour-long production, featuring designer looks modeled by world-famous supermodels Naomi Campbell and Gemma Ward, along with Caroline Winberg, Erin Wasson, and others to be announced.
In addition to the key looks presented throughout the show, FashionWeekLive will display a capsule collection from a different renowned designer in each city, who will be on hand to take their bow from the runway and celebrate with guests at a special on site VIP after-party. Designers will also be announced during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
All of the events in Chicago, Houston, and Dallas will take place in tented superstructures, similar to those erected for the shows in New York’s Bryant Park. In Chicago, tents will be raised in Millennium Park; in Houston, the show will take place in Water Wall in Uptown; in Dallas, the event will be held in Victory Park; and in San Francisco, the event will take place in Ft. Mason, with its spectacular views.
“It’s a producer’s dream project showcasing the best clothes, the best models, and the best locations,” said show producer/director Kevin Krier, best known for his work on Tom Ford’s Gucci runway shows. “One of the unique aspects of this event is that we are going to be giving our guests the true fashion week experience—something that these cities haven’t seen before and certainly nowhere near on this scale.”
FashionWeekLive is produced by IMG, presented by Sephora, and sponsored by Swarovski, Mercedes-Benz, Lycra, DHL, and Moët & Chandon. Tickets for FashionWeekLive are available at www.fashionweeklive.com or by calling 866-840-8822.
