Here are some updates on FashionWeekLive!, the one-night fashion event featuring New York fashions and models (such as Naomi Campbell and Gemma Ward), that comes to Fort Mason on March 15:

IMG, the sports and entertainment media company producing the show here and in Chicago, Houston and Dallas, announced last week that Francisco Costa, who designs for Calvin Klein, will be the featured designer for the San Francisco venue. He will be at the event and will show about 25 pieces from the Fall 2007 collection. Other fashions featured in the show include pieces from Zac Posen, Tracy Reese, Carmen Marc Valvo, Chaiken, Bill Blass, Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson and Badgley Mischka.

Local talents Lily Samii and Colleen Quen, two of San Francisco's better-known evening wear designers, were asked to show two or three looks each at the show.

Samii, whose atelier is located on Stockton Street, has long dressed many of San Francisco's social butterflies. She's known for her elegant evening wear with hand beading, elaborate appliques, fabric flowers and bold color combinations. Samii, who attended the San Francisco Ballet opening last month, created new couture gowns for nine women there; "but I counted 18 others who were also wearing my designs that night," said the designer.

Quen's gowns are also popular choices for opening nights; she's known for her bold architectural shapes, her prints and elaborate hand-made details. At the Ballet opening last month, trustee Pamela Joyner wore Quen's creamy satin gown with origami bird of paradise details. Quen's atelier is on Eighth and Heron streets.

Tickets for FashionWeekLive! are $500-$1,500, which includes a cocktail reception, the show and after-party. Children of Shelters, a San Francisco nonprofit dealing with children in transitional housing, is a beneficiary of the event.

did anyone go to the houston event last night?

Yep, it didn't sell well in Chicago....the lady in charge of PR is bad from what I heard ....shhhhh!

Does anyone know why the bigger models were there in Houston but not in Dallas? Dallas is still having Fashion Week but they are using only local unknown models except for Ali Michael (as you can see in her thread)

I was really upset because that was a huge part of my initial excitement

So probably someone can explain what exactly FashionWeek Live is?
Is it like NY Fashion Week on a tour?

^That's odd... Maybe IMG decided one city was enough for their girls? According to the newer site ( http://www.fashionweeklive.com/home.sps ) only Houston is on the actual roster now...

san francisco is still happening on thursday...
apparently it's sold out...

a friend of mine that works at a high-end store in the city is going, and she is bringing me as a guest...
she also heard it wasn't well organized...

to anyone that went, was there a red carpet where the models walked in before the show started?

I wish I could have afforded to go to this. Hopefully, they'll do it again, though. I'd probably cry if I saw Freja and Gemma and Chanel Iman LIVE and IN PERSON on the runway.

If one is really a socialite, they would have seen the collections in New York...but only time will tell what's going to happen...it is 13 days away...

Houston is FULL of socialites so it's no surprise that show wasn't cancelled.

well, 500$ ....i wouldn't give...i read that 50 - 60% of the seats were given (through knowing that and that person)....New York Times had a long article about this. One couple paid 3000$ for the better seats and they said "it was totally worth it"......can' t believe it....

and I agree a true fashion socialite would come to NY
