Some of you may never heard of Liverpool fashion week but it is becoming a bigger event every year it is held.

The commercial success of Liverpool fashion week last year was undeniable. With coverage in every newspaper in the UK, over 30 Magazine articles and International coverage including the New York Times it was the event that Liverpool was waiting for.

The history of the event has been documented by on websites and in print and the 3 year wait for the project to come to fruition was worth it.

Confirmed venues include the Adelphi Hotels brand new basement cave, Liverpool University, Liverpool 1 and the Liverpool Olympia

The 5 events that take place during the week are set to be a different standard to anything you will have seen in Liverpool this year

Ive just read this on http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/.

This is really big and exciting possibly dissapointing news for me as i am working backstage at Liverpool fashion week next week.

According to the Liverpool Echo website, Nicole Richie was set and booked to attend Liverpool fashion week next week.

Insider hears that US actress and socialite Nicole Richie, aka Paris Hilton’s some-time best mate, was heading this way as the A-list attraction of the week’s finale party.

That was until nature intervened and Ms Richie announced she was expecting her second baby with Good Charlotte rock star Joel Madden.

Our disappointed source reveals: “The first thing we knew about her pregnancy was when she was talking about it at the Oscars.

“We’d booked her to come to the finale fashion show and then host the party afterwards. We did a survey on Facebook and her and Paris Hilton came out as the two stars most people wanted to see.

“We decided on Nicole because she hasn’t really done anything in Britain so we thought we’d be guaranteed plenty of interest, whereas Paris has been everywhere over the last few weeks with her reality show.”

In fact, organisers were so keen to get her they were ready to splash £20,000 for just two days.
“She’s not cheap, but we planned to fly her into Manchester next Thursday, put her up at the Hard Day’s Night Hotel and then take her round Liverpool for photo opportunities.

“We would have expected her to do quite a lot and that just wasn’t going to happen once we knew she was pregnant. Her manager said they didn’t want her coming to Britain now anyway, so we agreed to cancel.”

All is not lost celeb-wise, though. Our source adds: “Now we’re getting offered things left, right and centre so next week we’ll be announcing new names.”

I am soo so gutted if she does not come to Liverpool!!
I think it would just be a crazy coincidence, me working backstage and Nicole Richie being there!
I hope she still comes!!

does liverpool really need a fashion week!

Personally i dont think it will be trashy.

I hate the way people slander a city based on stereotypical views.

Every fashion week has to start somewhere, its a new thing for Liverpool.

The city is possibly the best in the UK, without including London. I think your comments are rude and unjustified.

With "the model Caprice" and people from Blue and Atomic Kitten it's hardly going to be high fashion is it?

And Tim Westwood? Seriously?

What do any of these people even have to do with fashion? Most of them aren't even notable for their style!

So can a week of fashion only been name fashion week if it is "high fashion"?
- Some of Liverpool boutiques will be showcasing their collections, who is to say that they are never going to make it into high fashion?

And i do agree, they are some D-Listers, but im sure a million more D listers attend other fashion weeks.

It is not likely Liverpool fashion week will attract the high end designers in their second year of the event?

Caprice also may be seen as a D-Lister but she is there to promote her range, so if it is apparel no matter what your opinion is, it is still fashion.

I think what you are saying is totally unjustified and rude, why say anything at all if you are just going to be negative? - Your opinion will not change or alter anything.

An opinion is an opinion!

Perhaps there will be some worthwhile designers at this, but the way they're marketing it is terrible. And personally I don't think there's enough of a reason to have a Liverpool fashion week, London doesn't even get a whole week!

I do agree that there is D listers, maybe they were saving all their pennies for Nicole Richie to attend, lol!
But i do think it will be a great event and the reason i posted this was because it deserves to be recognised and known about.

It has been so great working backstage at LFW, ive learned so much & i know it something id love to do as a career.

Here is a pick of some of my favourite outfits from Liverpool Fashion week (so far!!)

Thanks for the info and the pics, Nicole. :)

I'm very fond of Liverpool as, although I never lived up there, I spent most of my childhood holidays staying with friends in Merseyside.

...and come on people, no need to be rude, is there?

I think some people think it is just ok to be rude about Liverpool, the positive side is that we have a good sense of humour so it dosent effect the city.

The finale show is this Friday, it is titled .. Scouse in the City

Here is the flyer ..

Its going to be a great show!!!

sophie anderton was there and I saw bianca gascoigne walking around L1 in her underwear haha

Like it or not liverpool is one of the most influentual and fashion forward places in the uk ... the girls here are seriosuly stylish and fashion is big bussiness here .. scouse girls are known for there style.. as well as creating alot of street trends

People really need to get over the wag sterotype.. no one here really is like that any more that was all over and done with years ago

ok so liverpool fashion week might not be amaizing but its a start and a chance for young talent to get there name out there and put on a show .. and its an excuse for the goodold traditional british piss up =)

Its not claiming to be the next lfw anything its just a week full of parties

liverpool fashion week is about getting to every girl in liverpool and not be snobby and elitest .. chances are even the street beggers in liverpool can talk to you about fashion

liverpool fashion week is about togetherness and including all .. this cant be a bad thing can it ??

It said in the echo (our local newspaper) that liverpool fashion week was covered in every british newspaper and even in the new york times etc. so it cant be that bad can it ?? thats what its all about reaching the normal liverpool girl who loves fashion and a good party, and spends most of her income on clothes and shopping

It actually werent hosted by Hollyoaks, it was hosted by Caprice and Sophie Anderton.

I dont get why some people are so rude on this thread, it isn't 'high fashion' it is local designers & boutiques!!

& no matter who hosts it does not mean the fashion will be in some way bad.

I hate the way i have to justify this thread.
