Inception

I saw it again yesterday (it was the only decent film showing at Gold Class) and although I wasn't as excited by it the second time - I still enjoyed it! I got shivers when I heard the slowed down "end dream" noise at the start of the film ^_^

I've been looking forward to seeing this for so long ever since I saw it was Chris Nolan with a dream cast (no pun intended). Finally saw it last night and I wasn't disappointed.

I always like to check a few reviews afterwards and I noticed most were very positive but some like salon.com were pretty dismissive. Imdb currently has it as their #3 movie of all time!

Actually reading through this thread is kinda making me want to see it again. That thing with the slowed down Piaf song is genius - nice one Hans Zimmer.

Here's a cool graphic that Joseph Gordon-Levitt pointed to on twitter. It's mildly spoilerific I guess but if you've not seen the film it probably won't mean much to you (and you should go see it!).

But... I do feel like me and my friend are like the only few people on this planet who didn't find it that confusing?

You're not alone. I'm frustrated at all the people who say its a bad movie because they didn't "understand" it. What's there to understand? as long as you listened when they explained the rules of the dream world and you follow along, its not confusing at all.

anyway, fantastic movie. ive already seen it twice and im hoping to see it again in imax.

Great graphic! Really sums it up so well. Makes me want to watch the movie a third time!

I like to think those who didn't get it are not inclined with their common sense... Any ways I watched it yesterday and it was great! Not that great has some people were emphasising (but I guess its usual for over-hype) but great for a hollywood blockbuster!

It wasn't confusing at all, loved it the first and second time I saw it, waiting to go with my fam to see it again.

Before I went to see it I asked my friend who had watched the film and she told me it wasn't good because it didn't make much sense. When I went to see it I wasn't confused at all, it irritates me a little that some people put it down because they didn't understand the plot.
The only thing I didn't like (at first) was the idea of Ellen Page being in the film, I hadn't seen her in anything since Juno so I was a little skeptical but that wore off quickly! I think I might actually go see it again, I can't wait for it come out on DVD :')

It annoys me so much when people say that Inception was confusing, although at first I got a little lost but then I figured it out. All you really have to do is think about it but it seems like so many people don't want to use their brain when they go to the movies which is why so many trashy films get made.

So true. What annoys me even more is when you watch a movie with someone who has no patience and must know what will happen the moment a conflict arises. "What's gonna happen?" "Are they [prediction about what will happen]?" I just want to yell, you're not supposed to know what's gonna happen yet! It will be revealed in due time, just wait! Maybe I'm a tad too intense about movies

I actually saw somebody asleep during much of the movie.
Since it was my third or fourth viewing I couldn't help but notice the irony:lol:

I know! My bf is just like that. Esp. when he knows I already know the movie or read the book (if the movie is based on one). But he also does it at the cinema

Back on topic: I saw Inception last night and I am so with those who say it was easy to follow. I would go as far as call it logically constructed (my parents said they were confused by the movie - I can NOT understand them).

I thought it was awesome!

I've seen this movie a few times and I'm with the people who believe it was all a dream, from start to finish. the entire movie.

I felt like there were so many things pointing towards it, and my theory is that when Mal killed herself, she really did get back to reality. We have Mals father telling Cobb to get back to reality, we have Mal telling Cobb he always thinks he's getting chased by big corporations etc (which he is in "reality").. he wants to stay in the dream and keeps finding reasons for it, and Mal is there disturbing him wanting to ruin the dream to wake him up from it. and also about the Totem, didn't he find and take it from their dream, how can you take something from a dream to reality?

and also, his character was the most developed and I feel like it's for a reason, since the others are just props in his dream.. and also the kids looking exactly like in his dreams

but I guess with this movie, every theory has it's strengths and weaknesses, I don't think we're ever going to find the right one since there probably isn't.

Just bought the soundtrack.
I rarely buy movie's music but hearing Hans Zimmer's just give me goose bumps. The music was so intense and perfect, I can still remember each scenes through it.

God, this has to be one of the best movies EVER. I'm serious  Not only because of the plot, the sceneries, the actors, the music, the clothes - everything was just pure perfection. But what fascinates me the most is (and I only get acknowledgment when reading the comments in this thread) that you can watch this movie, and totally make your own story of it, be it that:
a)that it was all a dream
b)it actually happenend but he is still dreaming in the end
c)it all happened and he is back in reality in the end
.... whatever!
You can use your brain and imagination and everyone can get satisfied but still it seems possible, right and logical - no matter which of the above mentioned options you chose!

I've watched it three times already now... and I still neeeed to get it on DVD to watch it 10 more times haha
:blush::heart:

^^I agree. Even though I'm convinced it's reality in the end, each theory posed seems to be completely valid and irrefutable.

So, like faith mentioned, the key to the whole movie is the really the Penrose Staircase. No matter how far you take your logical train of though, you always seem to end up at the beginning again. Because the movie is so finely crafted, it's impossible to come to one solid conclusion. Instead, you're left to your own imagination. You decide how the movie works...you almost forget all the clues and just let your gut decide.

Masterful!

Everyone look at my avatar!

I agree with Aby about the score. I can't stop listening to "Time" and "Dream Is Collapsing". I think I might even like this score more than the one for Batman Begins. (which is probably the nerdiest thing I've ever said but I dont care )

^^Agree with you guys.
My favorite is Time. It's like the whole movie packed into a few minutes.
