i received my vintage jumbo last week it could be plastic which is SUCK! but i like it so much i will still wwear it and i just paid for the caviar

I got my vintage jumbo lambskin last week too. I don't think the CC logo made with plastic, feel like a different metal compare to the brass chain. The only issue to me is the gold hardware color looks light yellow, I prefer more rich gold. Also, on the back pocket, the red lining is little poke out. Is yours the same?

For the gals who like the petite timeless shopping tote in black caviar with gold hardware, I send the request and pictures to Jacky last week. He said will start make it. Yay!

cloudyblue, there may be a gold paint you can use to subtly fix the discoloration. or maybe you can offer to pay jacky for extra hardware the next time you make an order?

i also wish Jacky improve his gold hardware specially for his vintage chanel.. the chain has always been too yellow IMO.

Yes, I love my lambskin XL 2896 from the old batch especially because of the leather (same as the authentic) and that is the only reason why I have carried it. But, the large double c's for me is a dead giveaway that's it's fake. I don't carry it much and when I do...it's evening time dark

I have tried to persuade J to change the large double c's hardware to the more heavier brass but, he hasn't budged yet. It can't cost that much more. I will keep trying!

zen, how many j's chanel bags do you owe? i cant believe that even though you are so close with j ..you recommend him bags/alterations etc or even demand from him ...he still doresnt hear you to change the "bottega veneta" chanel leather,stop the fake plastic sprayed chains or the logos..
are you getting the boy bag?
has anyone get the ysl east/west bag?

Thought I return the favor and give a review of my latest purchase. The woc looks good Leather is stiff (not like the soft caviar that is offered at chanel now) and the chain feels heavy. It is just a couple of inches shorter. overall it's pretty good and is passable. Only took me several months and some bad purchases to find one like this. Why aren't there more sellers offering this?

freefallin, this one is not from catty. I had one from catty (or at least that was what the seller told me) and it was a very obvious rep. This one is passable. It will not pass the scrutiny of the authenticators over in the other forum as the hologram # is wrong.

I have a slew of J's Chanel bags. I've been collecting and using them for years (and just recently sold quite a few on bagswap). His answer to not changing the Chanel leather, is that it is closer to what the authentics are now (which is a cheaper, softer leather). I wish I had a magical influence over him to change the Chanel hardware but, I don't.

My answer to the vintage Chanel flaps, is to buy an authentic one, used.


I have been successful in getting him to make certain bags but, I have no control over him changing any hardware. There is one thing that I do believe in, and that is strength in numbers. If enough people start to request changes, he will do it.

And, just a little note, the hardware is a cheaper metal...not plastic. The large double c's on the XL flaps appears to look like plastic dipped in a light yellow gold colored paint, and so does other parts of the XL flap hardware. There is a big difference from what the authentic hardware looks like compared to J's XL flap.

I have received Chanel flaps and the gold chains are not always consistent. Some are a dark yellow gold plated, and then I've got some light yellow gold plated ones. I would call it, hit or miss.

I do try my best to persuade him to make changes with certain things, so that everyone will benefit from them. He used to have the best Chanel flap bags, but not anymore. It may be an issue of cheap production nowadays.

Don't think I ever give up on him changing things, because I do still try

And, yes I do intend to still get the boy bag when it's ready.

I know I asked this before but I'm just dying to know! What exactly do you think is off on the quilting on Js jumbo vintage?

Also,
Is the better for the chains to be light gold or dark gold?

The ratio of the diamonds of the quilting is a little off on J's vintage jumbo...look closely on the front. They should be even where the front flap meets the bag area (and it's not), and the back pocket should be lined up with the bag also on all flaps.

The gold plating should be not too dark or light.

Hi baglovinequine. If you are talking about the BV Veneta, he had done the Large Veneta before he did the Maxi. I am sure that if you asked him he might do it again .
You're right, he used to have much more styles for BV (if not a lot of colors...)
I wished he would do again the BV campana. I got it in black when he was still doing it, and that's one of my favorite bag. I just would love to get another one in another color and in a bigger size.

Charbon is more closer to a black than brown in some pictures, while Castagna has more reddish hints that make it more chocolatey.
