Live Streaming... The F/W 2025.26 Fashion Shows
Madonna: You count to the most-booked models of the world, walked for the most prestigious designers...
Iris Strubegger: And I had not one single minute to breath as I have been working full-time for the last 5 weeks. From NY to Paris. You get about 3-5 hours of sleep but otherwise you spend the day with running from one appointment to another.
Which show did you enjoy the most?
The one of Alexander McQueen. It was a very small presentation. Very emotional and hard on the one hand, but such a big honour on the other. I have meet McQueen at his previous shows. He was a truly lovely guy.
Paris was the final city - do you have time for a vacation now?
I'm about to fly to Paris again in just a few hours, where Karl Lagerfeld is going to shoot me for a big campaign.
How is working with him?
Really funny! He is happy when he has someone who speaks german around him. Even though it's quite hard to follow his conversations as he speaks a lot and so fast!
He is extremely intelligent and it's hard to keep up with his level.
Lagerfeld is known for casting very thin models. What is your point of view on the whole skinny-debate?
I don't know what came first: the thin models or the tiny clothing-sizes. I really have to watch my diet and stay in shape as the competition is really big. But I hope that someday the designers are actually ready to say to a girl "No, we won't book you. You are too thin."
Is modelling, despite all the pressure, still your dreamjob?
It has never been! I will do this now as long as possible. I was discovered when I was 17, on the streets in NY. And I actually stopped for some years to finish my studies. Then I started again and my success really took off.
How hard is it, to combine a relationship with modelling?
My boyfriend lives in Salzburg. And I'm located in NY. It works because we are together now for 7 years and we both know that the job is a temporary thing. I want to save money for a house in Salzburg and later have kids with him. I'm happy to be a country bumpkin. If I was born into a rich, wealthy family who is really into fashion I wouldn't even know that there's a "real world" out there. It's so important for me to stay grounded. There are already way too many freaks in that business. And they have no idea about reality.
