Iris Van Herpen Haute Couture F/W 13.14 Paris

Most of these would look really good in an art gallery. I love her designs, but recently they've become repetitive- in a bad way. :( Still, my absolutely favorite collection from Iris Van Herpen is FW 2011. It was just pure art.

In the past Iris van Herpen interned at Alexander McQueen.

I agree with the comments about redundancy. It kind of saddens, because I can tell that she at least somewhat had a vision but haven't fully learned how to explore them.

MDX feature stories
As one of fashion’s most forward thinking designers, Iris van Herpen is always there to push the envelope. Whilst others are churning out ball gowns or cocktail dresses to send down the catwalk, van Herpen uses her runway as a platform for innovation. Utilizing cutting edge processes like 3-D printing to create cocoon like shapes and sculptural forms, van Herpen hammered home ideas about body modification and surgical perfection. Silicone accents echoing the shape of bones, or fanning out in layers of triangular fringe gave the collection its fantastical feel. Even in the typically lavish realm of couture, van Herpen’s designs stand out as a over the top abstractions, destined for a place in groundbreaking editorials and on the pedestals of fashionable museum exhibits.

Lady Gaga just called, she wants everything back

Sad thing is, even Lady Gaga, at least, changes it up every now and then :innocent:

In all honesty, I really do love Iris Van Herpen. I think she really is a genius, but she's just stuck in a safe spot where she's found acclaim. However, she is an artist and she needs to challenge herself.
