I've always wondered what people wear in Ireland. Recently I found out that are school might make a trip to Ireland and that sparked my intrest again. Mods feel free to move the thread if its in the wrong spot.
Females generally do care about fashion/style. Males... a lot less so.
It's basically the same as in Britain with more emphasis/shops/variation in cities.
well my friends at uni who are from ireland and northern ireland dress just like everyone else in the uk... your usual high street/trendy stuff. it might just be my friends, but they do tend to wear a lot of colour - more so, IMO, than the english and scots.
traditional irish style, which is not so common with the younger generation, is gorgeous. I the celtic influences in traditional irish clothing and have always tried to integrate them into my wardrobe. I've always gotten a huge source of inspiration from celtic knotwork patterns and traditional dance costumes I grew up seeing in the irish dancing feis (competition) circuit. at feisanna there were always vendors selling beautiful hand made celtic jewellery and irish woollen/linen textile products.
if you get to go to ireland with your school, waukon, do take advantage of these traditional things and buy something! the jewellery is particularly beautiful and I think works beautifully with all types of non-traditional styles.
Particularly excited about this thread as my heritage is 75% Irish. I can't make it over there at the moment, so I'll live vicariously through this thread
