What do you guys think? I used to love Vogue Russia, it was innovative and managed to preserve a sense of glamour that most Vogues seem to lack. However, ever since Aliona left, the magazine's quality has greatly decreased and I feel like it's becoming just another in the bunch. Vogue Turkey, on the other hand, I'm very impressed with. It's new, but I feel like they have a clear direction and above all, have a fashion-oriented goal. It's not about celebrities, but rather showcasing the fashion. If they keep doing what they're doing, I think they could become a real powerhouse. What do you guys think? I'd love to hear other opinions.

I never found Vogue Russia to be as spectacular and consistent as Vogue Turkey is right now. Aliona did seem like she had all the best vibes and really wanted a change but at the end, even though it was outstanding next to other Vogues, she kept hiring people the industry was almost dictating to hire. Perhaps I'm too demanding but her work never awed me.. presenting trendy concepts or having in-demand models instead of celebrities on your cover does and says nothing to me.. one of my favorite magazines (AnOther) exclusively features actresses/musicians on its covers and it's an incredible publication.. these days I actually get suspicious of fashion magazines that have people like Raquel Zimmerman or Anja Rubik on the cover, and photographed by someone that has already photographed 10 other covers that month.

If Vogue Russia was the only Vogue worth following, then I agree Vogue Turkey is what Vogue Russia under Aliona was for some. Even when it doesn't appeal to my personal aesthetic sometimes, it has just shown such a clever and integral way of marrying local and international fashion and presenting it to its readers through familiar concepts created by emerging talents and new models/semi-retired models. It's forward but still Condé Nast-friendly. And most importantly, so far, their issues have yet to radiate the desperation coming out of the pages of most Vogues, I hope their successful recipe is not altered by the attention.. at least for a couple of years.

vogue turkey is so consistent with their covers. no vogue is more consistent that vogue turkey. both vogue italia produce hits and misses but i havnet seen a miss from vogue turkey yet. they definitely know what they are doing.

I don't know about Vogue Turkey having no misses so far. I think the Leigh Lezark and Paris Hilton covers were pretty horrendus.

I think instead of Vogue Turkey 'replacing' Vogue Russia we should maybe look at Vogue China. Aside from the main issues of Vogue everybody looks at, I think Vogue China has really been picking up in the last year or so.

^ Yeah, the Paris Hilton cover was atrocious. But other than that I'd say they've had consistently good covers.

By the way, would anyone be able to tell me the name of Vogue Turkey's editor-in-chief?

I actually think it has the potential to be! They are one of the only magazines whose covers have me excited every month, just wish I knew where to buy it in the midwest.

I don't mean to look at the subject at hand so practically, but it doesn't seem fair to make the comparison for obvious reasons. Mainly because of the time the magazine has been in production-you're talking about one year in comparison to decades of hard work (and I'm not only referring to Russian Vogue.) Like other Vogues, Vogue Turkey will more than likely gain its own faults given time. As cheesy as it may sound, each Vogue's faults contribute to what makes it unique.

Who knows, though. Maybe things will be different and the new Vogue Turkey will continue to be the new Vogue Turkey. It's only been a year and they've kept us on our toes so far...

Yes, it's true. She takes her different view away. Celebrities are just part of the fashion. The magazine helps us illustrate the trend by them
