Lagerfeld likes the idea of a XVIIIth century courtisane, which I do understand. But I guess they were far more stylish and less vulgar than this young girl (btw I've nothing against her ...).

Karl reminds me of Yves (SL) so much sometimes. They both loved this ancient, previous world (Karl especially) and idolize it and try and recreate it while at the same time, ignoring the harsh realities that such a world created and perpetuated.

I think trying to decide if a muse is appropriate for an artists is utterly ridiculous. A muse is something that inspires and it's rarely something unsensational or lacking in scandal, especially in fashion, photography and art. Who are we to say whether or not it's "right" if an image of Zahia draws up a sketch in Karl's mind that ends up being a piece of clothing we adore? Ridiculous. It would be harder to find great artists that DIDN'T have inappropriate muses than it would be to find those who kept their muses purely tasteful. Historically they have been mistresses, prostitutes, dancers, actresses and lovers, Zahia is just another in a long line of women who have filled these shoes for the greats of their eras.

And let's look at the fact that he could have a lot less "appropriate" muses, like say those who haven't designed two lines of lingerie that showed at Paris HC week before the age of 20.

Furthermore, from a purely aesthetic position, even though she's kind of a butterface ("but her face" for those of you not that great at english word games) she has a body that is anatomically incredible. Regardless if you think her boobs are real or any of that jazz, can your back bend that far? Is your *** that pert? Your legs that long? No? Then Karl Lagerfeld probably won't use you as an "inappropriate" muse.

Everything about Zahia is a great way to boost magazines sales and to increase web pages views. The medias keep on exploiting that. It's cynical and IMO Karl Lagarfeld isn't any different. oversharer do you really think he's interested in Zahia because of her proportions or the lingerie she supposedly designs herself? He just enjoys the shocked reactions their collaboration provokes. For who is familiar with Karl Lagerfeld they were probably just eyeroll reactions.

The interesting thing is that Zahia is clearly smarter than people give her credit for (even though her interviews are embarrassing to watch) because she surrounded herself with lawyers, investors and a PR team that knows how to play on the curiosity of the medias and the public. She got to work with prestigious designers and photographers and her last lingerie show was reviewed by famous magazines and attended by respected celebrities (Emmanuelle Béart, Virginie Ledoyen, Béatrice Dalle). That's what annoys me because as much as I hated the backlash Zahia received when the scandal broke up I also hate the exaggerated compliments that are offered to her now. Her reconversion seems to be a success so far so congrats to her but I wish some serious medias would stop trying to make us belive she's an icon, a symbol or a designer. Basically I wish they would stop pretending to be analysing a social phenomenon when they're just trying to sell more papers. That makes me an idealist I guess.

however, I must admit that zahia really looks like ... well, I'm trying to find a right word but I don't want to insult anyone.

A blow up doll? I don't know, However I can understand the fascination ppl have with her yet, I find it odd that Karl calls publicly his muse a bottomline underage trashy looking prostitute. He is after all head of one of the most elegant fashion houses that caters to a very conservative client. Which clashes completely with Zahia's image.

I may be even buy it that he sees her as a muse in his personal life or that he admires her for being so candid to what she did. But to be his muse as a designer? I can only imagine him taking inspiration from her to design a tweed jacket.
