i thought that Issey Miyake’s A-POC clothing collections may deserve their own thread
i was searching for images of all 14?[from A-POC 0 to A-POC 13] collections, not with great success though.

(we've been working on the same mags here in Athens, but not sure if i ever met her)

i love the genious idea behind APC, but the shapes mainly leave me cold.
i saw Issey's 'official' launch for APC at the Cartier Center in Paris few years ago and i was totally taken, mouth gapping and all (post 7 introduces stills from the 'launch' video).
Hopefully in ten/twenty years most garments will be manufactured based on Issey's APC prototype idea but design wise, this needs real work and developement.

APOC has its own shop (at least) in Paris HB..

benzo, the whole concept it based around fabric and industrialised cut (no need for sewing machines there) another interesting point is that the end client can actually interact with altering lengths/shapes etc once he'she has brought the garment.

APOC is what ( in my book anyway) brings Miyake on top of today's fashion revolutionaries/ researchers/ developers

It all begins as a "special" tube of cloth which is fed into a machine, much like a printing press. The device outlines and perforates the final shape of the clothing that is to be cut. As the tube of fabric emerges, one can discern in the embedded shape of a hat, a dress, underwear, bra, socks, gloves and even a purse. All it requires is a pair of scissors to free the garment from its web. But what makes A-POC such a remarkable concept, is that Miyake has deliberately placed that decision and the shears into the customer's hand.

miyake is really re-thinking material and form...
being able to interact with clothing and personalize it...
and the whole construction/deconstruction dialogue...
love it...
