New York Magazine has some advice for her...

Why Won’t Ivanka Just Let Herself Be a Trump?

This Sunday, Ivanka Trump, 27, will marry Jared Kushner, 28. They seem to be the perfect match: Both are tall, with unblemished skin that appears to be lit from within by wealth and privilege. Both are the progeny of real-estate moguls who have known the taint of disrepute. Both have taken pains to cultivate sober, hardworking, and more refined reputations for themselves within their family businesses as well as without (he owns the New York Observer; she runs her own jewelry line). Their wedding will, by all accounts, be a sedate and tasteful affair: The bride will be wearing a Vera Wang inspired by Grace Kelly. Afterward, according to “Page Six,” the couple will release a single photo, “as John Kennedy and Carolyn Bessette did.” They registered for a $34 Bundt-cake pan at Williams-Sonoma.

Contrast this with her father’s wedding to his third wife, Melania. The bride wore a $100,000 Christian Dior gown with a thirteen-foot train and a sixteen-foot veil that spiraled off her head like a tulle tornado. The cake was five feet tall. The couple registered for an $1,800 Palladium Platinum Edge china set from Tiffany.

Ivanka’s restraint is not just a sign of the times. Rather, it’s characteristic of “the next generation of Trump,” a slogan that appears in her just-released self-help book, The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life. Ivanka made the media rounds last week, appearing in pearl-drop earrings on Nightline and in a low-cut power suit on Good Morning America. The confluence of wedding—the couple became engaged only in July—and book-publishing dates turned out to be, as Ivanka would put it, an “angle of opportunity.” The ensuing publicity blitz has also allowed her to try to shift the public perception of the Trump brand.

In her book, Ivanka praises her parents’ creation of the Trump brand, which has “come to represent the highest caliber of luxury and excellence.” But it’s clear that aspects of the family’s image make her squirm. She writes of being mortified by her parents’ tabloid divorce and, later, of her father’s 2005 Emmy Awards skit, in which he sang the Green Acres theme song while wearing a straw hat and overalls. Watching him strut around onstage, “I caught myself wondering how I might describe it to any of our overseas associates, who might not have such a nuanced appreciation for how my father had positioned himself here at home at the intersection of business and popular culture.”

Ivanka, with her pearls and perfect posture, wants to be taken seriously, and much of the book centers on the many ways in which she has avoided being treated like the child of clowns. Her personal desire to surpass expectations is understandable, even admirable. But she flies in the face of the most valuable aspects of the Trump brand: that luxury doesn’t have to be stuffy, and that being rich is fun.

Ivanka’s interview tips (“You don’t want your perfume … to overwhelm the person across the table”) betray little sense that she understands why the brand is so compelling. Unlike her mother, Ivana, whose last marriage, to a much-younger Italian playboy, featured performances by Neil Sedaka, a twelve-foot-high cake, and Ivanka’s brother Donald Jr. toasting his mother’s “great boobs.” No one would have mistaken the affair for one held by the Kennedys. It was Trump all the way.

(And one of the comments on the article has a good question:
Why Won't The Donald Be More Like His Gracious Daughter?...)

^ Very, but they all look good together. I can't wait for the wedding!
But seriously, Donald needs to stop with the fake and bake. We know his real skin color, the jig is up. I'm sure Melania would have told him this already??

^ Well, Donald claims Melania cuts his hair, so her judgement is rather suspect...

^Hahaha! Yeah that is true, and hey if he had the keys to the "Tower" and "Credit Cards" etc. I'd probably let him do whatever he wanted too. Even if he does looks like an oompa loompa.

I know Ivanka wants a private wedding, but I really hope there will be some pictures coming out...

Me too. She said on her Twitter that she had her last dress fitting today. It's getting closer! :)

First Look: Ivanka Trump's Wedding Jewelry

Multi-talented Ivanka Trump is a very busy woman: she recently wrote a book, is currently filming a new season of Celebrity Apprentice, designs her own line of jewelry and has that little old day job as VP of Acquisitions for the Trump Organization. Still, she managed to add on planning a wedding to her list of responsibilities. But the once-in-a-lifetime event didn't seem to phase her: "Planning has been so easy," Trump told us. "I chose the floral arrangements, the dress, some food, some music and it was done!" This left one final detail to attend to though: her wedding jewels. The bride-to-be just revealed three pieces she'll wear on Sunday, all from her namesake collection, including a $45,000 custom-designed hair accessory, gorgeous diamond drop earrings valued at $130,000 and a $90,000 Art Deco-inspired bracelet. She's swathing her maids in Ivanka Trump jewels as well! Lucky ladies.

Check back here on Monday morning for more wedding-day details!

^ Her jewelry really is very nice...^_^

As the big day approaches, although the weather is miserable here in New Jersey this weekend- I hope it will clear up for them... :(

After a whirlwind engagement of a little over three months, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's big day is almost here.
The daughter of Donald Trump and her fiancé, the publisher of the New York Observer, will tie the knot at a private ceremony at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., on Sunday.
The bride will walk down the aisle in a Vera Wang wedding gown, inspired by Grace Kelly. The 500 guests will include Regis Philbin, who will be called on to sing a song at the reception, which was planned by Preston Bailey, who also handled Donald and Melania Trump's wedding at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla.For the bride, who turns 28 next Friday, it's been a crazy few months of wedding planning mixed in with publicity for her new book, The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.
She has kept her 400,000 Twitter followers up to speed every step of the way, beginning with the couple's July 15 engagement ("Truly the happiest day of my life!!!"). Last weekend, she tweeted a last-minute request: "Need some help picking a wedding song ... send me your thoughts!" On Oct. 22, she added, "Last dress fitting down… getting close."
Trump has kept details of the wedding quiet, but she told Brides.com, "I've always envisioned myself having a traditional and elegant wedding, even before the engagement."
She added that she can't wait for the ceremony itself. "At that point hopefully all of the anxiety will have subsided and I can just enjoy the moment," she said. She's also looking forward to "dancing like a maniac with all of my friends!"
After the nuptials, Trump and Kushner, 28, aren't planning to have little ones anytime soon. "When our time to have a family comes around, I know I will compromise," she told PEOPLE recently. "I am not there yet!"
