well first of all..i wasnt sure where to put my question..but i think this is the appropriate section (???)

ive been wanting to buy a blazer for a while now..but i just didnt have the time or cash...

so anyways i was just walking around at my local macys and they had some blazers on sale (nothing great like dior or anything :P) and i noticed the sizing was something i havent seen before..

call me a noob or whatever (i wont deny it...lol) but i was just wondering how you get your size for blazers and jackets...

like the only sizes they had were like numbers 40-50 and they had a few 37s..

and they also had an R next to them..if that helps... ex:37R..

For US sizes, the number refers to chest circumfrence in inches. normally, you measure your own chest size (using a tape measure, right under the armpits) and buy according to that number. note that a 37US jacket is for a person with a 37" chest, but the coat will measure larger since there is space built in for movement. the amount of space built in varies from designer to designer (i think most suits allow 3-4 inches, but dior is like 1-2 inches).

the letter refers to the length (S=short, R=regular, L=long). if the size does not have a letter designation, then the sizing may be European, in which case the number refers to the same chest measurement in centimeters (just subtract 10 to get corresponding US size).
