Uhh, No. That would be Suzy Parker from the late 50's to early 60's. Second would be Twiggy.

Well, do you know that the term was used in the 50s? Janice's point is in a way monetary - compared to Suzy and Verushka she made a lot of money - which she truly appears to have blown.

^Well, considering Janice's central position in the dilemma it's not entirely off topic. As long as we focus on her role in this....Anyhow, I can't see anything in those articles that make any difference...we all know Suzy is the first supermodel (although some might say it was Lisa Fonssagrives), but that is in retrospect. Who was first talked about as a supermodel at the time they were at the top of their game? As I said, I have seen 60s mags referring to Verushka as a supermodel. If you can find an earlier mention of a supermodel, feel free to refer to it

When did Carol say that?! I've saw her on a tv special where she said the Supermodel thing could be said of Jean,Lauren Hutton and so forth! Now was she slighting Jan...its questionable but she didn't say she was the 1st either!

Hmmm,that site it seems to me like someone else like a rep answered those questions/wrote. I mean who repeatedly talks about themself in the 3rd person?! About the TV spot...she didn't really come out and say it,say it in my eyes,jokes. She said she helped the phenom,that is true...helped isn't I did blah,blah. Either way I do wonder what Jan thinks of her?! But I(like someone else) said earlier its kinda stupid b/c neither of them were first as far as success or the press dubbing b/c I've seen it in earlier times(granted it wasn't used like it was later,but still used). Today we live in a world of shameless self promotion I've seen girls,especially a certain few say I was the 1st to do this & that when its a flat out lie!

The topic about the first supermodel is irrelevant, because neither Janice or Carol were. I talked about having them fight it out and watching the sparks fly, that would be fun. That's all and nothing more.

Janice started modeling in 1974 and 1975 before Carol (1978), even though she didn't get the big bucks cosmetics contracts or an American Vogue cover she's still more explosive and "super" than Carol who is boring.
