Jean Paul Gaultier Pre-Fall 2025 : Jennie by Max Siedentopf

Cute.
But does this not infringe upon her non-compete agreement as a Chanel ambassador?
I wouldn't share her as an ambassador if I was Chanel.

I'm so confused. I would love to see what her contracts look like... she's under Chanel, Calvin Klein, and Adidas(?) but also schmoozes with Jacquemus and now JPG?

Is she allowed to be the face of other fashion brands under her CHANEL contract? Wow, that's impressive...
Yes as long as it’s not a direct competition. The perception of JPG is bigger than it reality. It’s not a competition of Chanel, much like Calvin Klein.

You cannot be the face of Chanel and wear Dior, Vuitton, Prada or Hermes.

The same way Damson Idris is a face of Prada and Tommy Hilfiger. No competition.

Margot Robbie as the face of Chanel was able to wear any brand she wanted except direct competition. Alaia, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Schiaparelli are some of the brands she wore.

But the reactions only in this thread prove why such a thing is a PR success. Gaultier got the Chanel girl.

such random pairing
I feel the same, Jennie is popular and an important It girl in South Korea and globally I just never thought of her being 'the ultimate Gauthier muse' as the caption says.
But I guess Gauthier hasn't really been a leading voice in more than a decade and it's mostly been run by the general manager in the last 5 years?

if its not on the blocked competitors list of contract its fine ..brands put in contract period what brands are no go its standard practice , unless its an exclusive contract than chanel would be paying way more millions for a person like her

is there a resource somewhere that lists the different tiers like luxury, contemporary, mass market, etc.? or do people just go off their industry knowledge?

Things are done internally. But with a bit of knowledge of the industry, it’s not so difficult to figure it out.

It’s a matter of price point and distribution. A long time ago, I would have said production but it’s not systematic as things are changing.

A brand like Gaultier for example makes their clothes in Italy but in terms of pricing, they are between luxury and mass brands as you can find a RTW item priced the same as the most expensive one from either a mass or fast fashion brand. In terms of distribution, it’s mostly through retailers, selective but not exclusive.

Gaultier is not so different from The Attico or N21 in Italy, or Isabel Marant in France or even a brand like Proenza Schouler in the US or Victoria Beckham in the UK.
