As the star of FOX Entertainment and New Regency's upcoming big-budget comedy Vampires Suck - a parody film by writers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer of Scary Movie, twenty-two year old Jenn Proske is making her mark as one of Hollywood 's most reputable up-and-coming film actresses.
Proske is one of Hollywood's rare success stories: In October 2009, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming an actor, and just a few months later, landed her first credit, the starring role in Vampires Suck, a major studio motion picture. But while she may have found success quickly, Proske has been honing her craft for years. In May 2009, she graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University, with a BFA in Acting and Theatre Arts. During her time at Boston University, Proske performed in a new work, Pope Joan, for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, as well as Off
Broadway at New World Stages. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Australia and working for Sydney Theatre Company under the direction of Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Proske moved to the U.S. at the age of four. She grew up in southern Orange County, California, where she became involved in local Children's Theatre productions. She continued acting on the stage through high school, performing in everything from musicals to Shakespeare to serious dramas and comedies. During her senior year of high school, she auditioned for conservatory acting programs at numerous colleges nationwide, before making the decision to attend Boston University.
Proske enjoys reading, learning how to cook, writing plays, Carole King, discovering new coffee shops in LA, attending live music shows and dancing with her friends. She is interested in criminal forensics and investigation, and completed part of a Masters in Criminal Justice degree while doing her undergrad at Boston University. Growing up, Proske participated in dance, theatre competitions, and floral designing. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
