The new Marie Claire hit stands this month and once again Jennifer Garner reminds us that she has major sex appeal. There is Violet’s mommy playing on the swings in her jeans and sweater set and then there’s Jennifer Garner, movie star, with her bold sexy pout and intense brown eyes. Lately we have been seeing a lot more movie star and over and over again we are wowed by her ever-evolving image.

Thanks to the tireless paparazzi we all remember Jen & Ben’s Kawaii vacation with Matt Damon and family. A view we didn’t get to experience until now was her cover shoot for Marie Claire. Our celebrity stylemakers Paul Starr and Adir Abergel flew out to meet Jen in Kawaii, staying at a private estate next door to the stars where the shoot would take place. Jen arrived in the morning for a day of play with the beauty experts and the camera. We caught up with Paul for the inside scoop on his creative process.

For the magazine cover Paul created a traditional clean natural look signature to Marie Claire, and then it was time for the real fun to begin:

BROWS:
Knowing that the shoot would be in black and white, Paul chose to go more dramatic on her eyes. He darkened Jen’s eyebrows with Anastasia’s Perfect Brow Pencil, creating more definition and a more dramatic shape.

EYES:
He applied Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner on her inner upper lashline and used a Victoria Secret Black Cole pencil to darken in the inner bottom of her her eyes. He extended them both out to the outer corners of her eye, bringing the lashline together. He then smudged it to give it a more modern feeling.

On her lids he used a silver color on the inner eye and then shadowed right above it in pewter to create a soft contrast. He applied a black shadow to the edges of her lid and then blended in. A smoky grey was lightly dusted all the way across the under eye.

LASHES:
Starting at the center of Jen’s eyes and moving to the outer edge, Paul added Ardel single lashes in short and medium length to add volume and drama to the eye. He applied Chanel Inimitable Multi-Dimensionnel Mascara in Black to the bottom lashes. On the top lashes Paul used BENEFIT’s new Get Bent Lash Mascara. The wand allows you to get in close and really define each lash for the most dramatic results.

LIPS:
Paul raved about Jen’s lips, calling her mouth one of the most beautiful in Hollywood (and he would know). He did nothing but give her pout a bit of Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. Her mouth is so strong he explained it really doesn’t need any further definition.

FOR THE POOL:
For the pool, Paul had Jen get in the water with her makeup on to wash off a bit of the eye, and then using a bit of cream he softened the eyes by removing some shadow from the top and the inner corners of her eyes.

They took the lip even more natural by adding Paul’s favorite Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Collection Lipstick in Beige BG951.

Paul was generous enough to send us a snapshot the photographer took of he and Adir prepping Jen for the shots of her just out of the pool. We can’t get enough of the behind the scenes beauty and we can’t get enough sexy Jen Garner Paul Starr style. We love Paul and Jen together. Keep up the beautiful work team.

Our Celebrity Stylemakers Adir Abergel and Paul Starr, teamed up with one of their favorite clients to bring you the cover of this month’s InStyle. We got the inside scoop on how they created Jennifer Garner’s glowing, summery, cover girl look:

ADIR ABERGEL - Hair

Step 1: Start with damp hair. Spray Bumble & Bumble thickening spray at the roots to create volume.

Step 2: Dry hair to about 80%dry with your hair dryer on medium. Many people don’t know that too much heat will flatten the volume in your hair. Turn head upside down while drying for volume.

Step 3: Once the hair is about 80% dry, blow dry the hair in sections using a 2 1/2” round brush. I like Frederic Fekkai’s round brushes. Create section of hair that are the same width of the brush. Dry from root to ends.

Step 4: Wrap section around Velcro rollers while the hair is cooling. This will create amazing body.

Step 5: Gently remove rollers one-by-one and “finger” the hair slightly to break it up a little.

Step 6: Put about a dime sized amount of Kerastase Nacre Nutri-sculpt Shine Wax into your hands and rub together to emulsify. Just touch the tips of the hair to create a little texture.

Step 7: Gently lifting the hair in sections, spray the roots with Klorane Dry Shampoo about 12 inches from the head. This creates volume.

Step 8: Gently finger through the hair…break it up a little. That’s it.

PAUL STARR- Makeup

Step 1: First Paul sprayed a La Mer spritzer all over her face followed by Dermalogica Active Moist to moisturize her skin. He let the moisturizer sink in as Adir was blow-drying her hair.

Step 2: He mixed a little bit of Clarins Liquid Bronzer into Chanel Teint Innocence foundation in “Beige”, and applied all over Jennifer’s face to give her that summer sun-kissed glow.

Step 3: The inner top eye was lined with a black, Chanel Long-Lasting Eyeliner pencil in “Ebene” and he then used a dark brown, Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in “Amber,” to do the top lid and the bottom corners. He brought the liner out a little further on the outside of her eyes to lengthen them and make the shape a bit more exotic.

Step 4: Paul used two different Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow quads on Jennifer’s eyes. From the first collection, called “Variations” , he used the dark brown shadow over the brown eyeliner to set it. He then used a peachy gold on the inner eye, an apricot color in the center and a dark brown in the crease and then smudged them out. The second quad containing the peachy apricot color and the chocolate brown, used to blend the eye shadows out, is from the limited edition“ Shimmering Dunes”.

Step 5: For Jen’s brows he used Anastasia’s brow pencil in “Brunette” with Chanel Precision Brow Definer in “Soft Brown”. He filled it in only a little bit with the pencil, and mainly used Anastasia’s “Brunette” powder to define her brows, so the look was soft and natural and looked like her own brows.

continuing paul starr's steps:
Step 6: On her cheeks he started with the creamy Shiseido S1 Stick Blush in “Bronze Flush” and then added Benefit “Hoola” for just a little contouring. Paul loves to highlight Jen’s cheeks because he says, “she has such beautiful cheekbones.”

Step 7: He started with Clinique Almost Lipstick “Black Honey” on her lips. “Everyone should have it. It’s one of my favorite things,” he said. Paul explained that it gives lips the perfect natural, rosy lip color. He then put MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 in “Gentle Coral” on top. It is “a very sheer, peachy lip balm.” He noted.

Step 8: Adding a touch of glamour, he used individual lashes by Ardell in “Soft Flair Black” from the middle of her eye to the outer corner. To finish it off he coated her lashes with Chanel Inimitable Mascara in “Noir-Black’.

Step 9: To complete the look he used a fan brush with just a tiny bit of Chanel Bronzer in “Toundra” on her cheek and T-Zone.

Step 10: Finally, Paul set the look with a finely milled powder from Asia. The powder, by Pola Cosmetics, is Paul’s secret weapon against Shine. He used it in her T-zone, under her eyes, and around her mouth. He loves it because unlike other powders, it doesn’t crack.

Thanks Melfreya! I love how Jen can be a mom without any makeup or fuss and then the next minutes she can become someone totally different like the glamorous movie star or the sex kitten. She can pull it all off, so versatile!

Violet is very cute, I love Jen's leather jacket too. Has anyone seen her play yet? Does she sing too or just act?
