Jessica Alba

^^ Yes it's her natural skin tone. People tend to forget shes not full Caucasian. I think she relates more to her Mexican roots then anything else. If a person is mixed with other races that include Caucasian and they're labled "pretty" most want to consider them "white". Also, I've seen some print ads and her skin tone is lightened.

Relate to her Mexican roots? Where did you get that idea from? She's the one who presents herself as white, i'm pretty sure she dislikes being refered to as a latina. I don't even think she speaks Spanish, I'm pretty sure her whole family is like that.

I don't think its a matter of her relating to her Spanish or French-Canadian roots. We live in a culture were people like to categorize someone's ethnicity and racial look and its a crude and pathetic way of identifying someone's heritage (mostly due to bigotry and our racist history created such racial categorization and celebration of our diversity).

However, Alba is at a stage in her career and life where she's yet to come to term with her own Mexican side from her father and its her personal choice and no one should attack her for it!

To get back on topic: She looks great and has one of the most enviable skin tone.

I have to agree with this. Jessica has said she does not present herself as Latina, because she does not see herself that way-she speaks no Spanish and says that at an awards show, her father, who is Mexican, told George Lopez when he tried to speak to Jessica's dad in Spanish, said, "I don't speak Mexican.'

Jessica is very careful to present herself as the future of what America will look like.

yeah but that 'Mexican comment' was truly ignorant. I hope it wasn't a direct quote since Spanish is a global language where millions around the world speak it, whether they are from Mexico or Barcelona.

Yes, the one on the newstands now.If you go to the magazine forum on this site, they have the whole instyle interview with her.

What her views are now not the same when she was younger. I recall in an interview (back in 1995) she proudly spoke of her Mexican roots. How times have changed. Any of you remember her on "Flipper" and talk about tan! Anyway, I tend to believe as her popularity has risen, she chooses the more acceptable root, IMO.

Has anyone seen her in Fantastic Four? She was good!

I totally agree. That skin comes straight from her father, but I don't know however how much she relates to her mexican side (other than looks wise). Like others have said she seems to not really be that in tune with that part of her heritage.
To get roles in hollywood, she probably felt like she needed to look more like the caucasion side of her family (blonde hair) to succeed and not be put into a box that hollywood seems so good at doing with people of color. I also sometimes find that in a lot of cases people think if an actress is beautiful and is of color then gasp! she MUST be mixed with white in order to explain her GREAT BEAUTY:doh:

I have been a HUGE Jess fan ever since Never Been Kissed. Back then, I thought she was half black, as did a lot of my friends. In the late 90s and up until she got Dark Angel, she was very open about her Mexican heritage and seemed proud of it. But then her hair got lighter and lighter and the higher her profile got, the more adamant she was about being multiracial and such. I am not knocking her, but I just think it is more practical for her. She has admitted to having a hard time getting roles where she was not just seen as the exotic girl and that getting Sue Storm for her was huge.

On the other hand, Paula Patton, who I am not sure is or isn't biracial has a lot of drama going on on her IMDB board because there are people who refuse to think she could be all black-she must be half white.

When Jessica started in the cable series "Flipper" in 1995. Her "proud years" Oh...many want to forget...
