A celebrity-filled group of actors, musicians and activists, which includes Emile Hirsch and Jessica Biel, have found an unusual way to kick off 2010 – by climbing the 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro, to raise both awareness and funds for the global water crisis.
And according to people.com, to give the climbers, who began their climb on Thursday, a firsthand look at the crisis, the group spent several days visiting a village near Arusha, Tanzania. Biel described her visit to Tanzania, as an eye-opening experience.
After landing there on Tuesday, Biel said that her hope is that others will be inspired to find ways of helping too. Joining Jessica Biel and Emile Hirsch on the expedition, are rapper Lupe Fiasco, Alexandra Cousteau, Elizabeth Gore, Kick Kennedy and musician Kenna.
