Model Chat: Joan Smalls
We caught up with model Joan Smalls just hours before she hit the runway at Prabal Gurung. Here’s how she preps for Fashion Week:
“I’ve been drinking a ton of liquid Biotin for two months now to get my hair, skin, and nails healthy for Fashion Week. For exercise, I like to do cardio and weights for my legs, and I try to get a lot of sleep. I love Estèe Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Creme even though it’s really for women over 40 because it’s really creamy and gives my skin more moisture. I wear it day and night.”

Meet Grazia Beauty's current model crush, Joan Smalls. Not only do we fantasise about having her incredibly flawless skin, but we think we could be BFFs. In short We. Love. Her. So you can imagine our delight when we spotted her backstage at Alexander Wang today. Of course, we wanted the scoop on her beauty must-haves...
So what's her top beauty advice? 'Always carry lip balm!' Joan told us.
But when it comes to the madness of fashion week, Joan amps up her skin care regime. 'I change my face creams for very heavy ones to keep my skin hydrated. My skin gets so dry when I'm constantly flying and because make-up is constantly being applied then taken off, it can be quite abrasive. So I use Estee Lauder Re-Nutrive (even though it's made for older women!) and mix it with Estee Lauder Advanced Night repair. I use it in the morning before a day of shows and at night before I go to sleep.'
And what's she looking forward to when she travels to Europe after New York Fashion Week? 'Everytime I go to Paris, I pop into the Givenchy store on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré for a quick fashion fix,' she reveals. Who can blame her?
