i saw her work in a newspaper mag.
& i fell in love with it  !
i haven't seen anythn like it before . .

Joséphine Sacabo lives and works mostly in New Orleans, where she has been strongly influenced by the unique ambience of the city. She is a native of Laredo, Texas, and was educated at Bard College, New York. Previous to coming to New Orleans, she lived and worked extensively in France and England. Her earlier work was in the photo-journalisitic tradition, influenced by Robert Frank, Josef Koudelka, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. She now works in a very subjective, introspective style. She uses poetry as the genesis of her work and lists poets as her most important influences, among them Rilke, Baudelaire, Pedro Salinas, Vincente Huiobro, and Juan Rulfo.

Beautiful. The pics from #3 look like paintings. Thanks for the topic Chanel!

Apparently she makes use of the Fresson technique [g(uk) posted about it in Metzner's thread]. Although it's not completely what I love, I'm amazed with every pic I see because of this technique.

I like some of that. I'm getting a little bit bored of all this dark photography, it just sometimes seems too "wannabe-artistic". There's so many photographers doing this style it's starting to wear off.

her photographs are strikingly overcast, and I love it. her photographs are a cross between of sarah moon and robert parke harrison.

the technique works really beautifully in some of her photos

i would love to have two or three of these framed and put on my wall as art..
especially some of the sepia-toned shots in posts 13 and 14...
they're the sort of thing that you don't get tired of looking at..

I can see just one picture on this thread, so I'm posting a set I really liked
