Law Pays Out $18 Million to Ex Frost


Hollywood heart-throb Jude Law has agreed to pay ex-wife Sadie Frost $18 million after she threatened to go after half of everything he earns. The former couple, who divorced last year after nine years of marriage, are close to settling on a deal after months of bitter fighting. The stress of continuous rows has taken such a toll on fashion designer Frost that she is prepared to settle for the huge cash deal and put the past behind her, according to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper. A friend of Frost confides, "She has felt that until now she hasn't really been able to turn a corner because of the ongoing strain of fighting it out with Jude. She and Jude have started to mend bridges recently and that also contributed to her decision to accept the deal. She is also very happy with her new boyfriend Jackson Scott, and that has helped her see that she needs to pit everything with Jude behind her." The Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow actor will give his 37- year-old ex-wife the $9 million London house they bought together, as well as pay for their three children's educations, the costs of their nannies and their maintenance. Law will also pay Frost $45,000 every month to maintain her lifestyle as well as an initial lump sum of $5.4 million and half the proceeds from the sale of the London flat they also own.

If this is true, this makes me dislike Sadie even more - she had threatened to take half of what he earns? She's a successful designer for Frost French with friends like Kate Moss! What else does she want? Geez. Not to mention the $45,000 a MONTH to maintain her LIFESTYLE. I can understand the child alimony payments, but to maintain her lifestyle? She can fund her lifestyle from her own work! Why should he be forced to give money for her habits? This is an aspect of divorce I never really understand...

I thought I read somewhere that she cheated on him, too (but maybe I'm wrong, though), and how much she partied it up with Kate Moss and her other girls when Jude thought it'd be better if she didn't do so for the sake of their children...

I can understand a woman's entitlement to half of the money IF she wasn't a big earner, but she is...it's not exactly as if she's poor...and $45,000 a month is a little excessive, just to maintain her lifestyle? :I could understand um, $150,000 a year from him, plus her OWN earnings... :: shrugs :: Sometimes I can underztand that sort of call for divorce cases, and in this case, I can't see it. But it's a celebrity divorce...it figures...

Accustomed to a certain lifestyle? Oh, please, you do not need to be spending $45,000 on maint. just to live... that's a ridiculous sum... nobody needs to have to live off such huge sums of money, no matter what you're used to.

I thought they shared custody? I know he skipped some premiere the other week or something to stay home with his children. He's always photographed with them, too.

She's half of the designer duo for FrostFrench...Probably got to make a nice bit of cash...

I think that if she were to receive half of whatever set of money that he has, I think it should be half of what he earned when they were MARRIED, but not for anything after that.

Well, being accustomed to a certain lifestyle IS dependent on how you raise your children...as far as I know, they seemed pretty down-to-earth about their children.

She's half of the design duo for the fashion line FrostFrench (they were rather lauded when they first came out for their funky underwear). (Sadie Frost and Jemima French, I think...)

So she does have a job, and a pretty lucrative one, at that...which is why I find this a little absurd...
