Junya Watanabe Menswear F/W 2023.24 Paris

I love it. With only one color, he still conveys so much emotion.

His choices of textures and techniques are always my favorite part of his collection.
The outerwears are so good, my body is ready for coat number 8 and 39.

I think the styling can be better, the crossbody bags and the hats kinda distracting.

Overall it's always a pleasure with Junya.

The opening looks are kind of a better Prada than this season's Prada; the subsequent technical stuff is a better ALYX than this (or any) season's ALYX; and he also gives what looks like a well-deserved victory lap to some of his own biggest hits (patchworked tailoring, moto zippers on boiled wool, TNF/backpack jackets, etc.) for everybody who didn't already get the chance to buy them.

That first lacquered black puffer vest with baggy shorts and leggings is the only look I disliked, it appears phoned-in/artless enough to be a Matthew Williams creation, but the fact there's only one such low point and it's hardly offensive just serves as another testament to the reliable talent of Junya Watanabe.

I see Junya's taken the mantle of repping all-black for this season when the usual suspects decided to take a break.... I like it. Solid outerwear and great textures.

If I could spend next fall in those sculptural puffers and zippered looks, it would be a dream. A perfect collection that stays within what he does best but I don’t mind at all.

It does seem like what that Alyx-person tries to do but will never (not in a million years) be able to pull off since he is a hack and Junya is a legend. Junya seems to be back at the top of his game in both men’s and women’s and it’s exciting to watch.
