Junya Watanabe's 21st Century So Far

^ add to that the fact that fashion equaled chloé by stella or dior by galliano in my world. yee haw.

Thank you .. I thought I had saved more, but 8 pics is all I've got and I can't find a way to access any archive, so disappointing. Wishing r0b0t still cared about fashion. :ninja:

^me as well, i wished there were a big archive with all the 90ies collections.

i found a few pics which i had saved.

completely agree about that image search on archival stuff. i can never seem to reconnect with much of the older catwalk stuff. thankfully there have been some tumblr sites and blogs that have surprised me with never to be seen stuff which sent my heart aflutter. those wonderful tumblr pages that la bordelique posted in the jurgi persoons thread have been a treasure for me.

and how astoundingly beautiful was junya in those days? although his work has got more and more organic in concept,i do miss the sheer velocity of power he could inspire from his work in the late 90's and early "noughties".

thanks to my girl ;)

btw,13 and obsessed with stella and galliano? that's better than i at 13. i was mostly into trendy NY designers at that age....i was obsessed with anna sui. :ninja: it wasn't till 96 that expanded my horizons and became a bit more interested in lang and sander. they paved the way for me.

btw, label under construction was involved somewhere in the earlier 00's, around 03 if I remember rightly.

Are there any more pictures from Spring 2001? I loved that collection.

through production and in the form of collaboration
it could be said that luc is a special line from his family's factory where quality knit stuff is produced and delivered to the clients who are some well-known brands.
and that time they were involved as luc since it was sort of special work.
around the early 2003, cdg's corner store in isetan carrying various brands other than their own products had luc. that way, there had been some connection which I guess somehow resulted in the collaboration with junya. you know that happens. for example, michael tapia once collaborated with luc. that just resulted from their showrooms during the paris fashion week being next to each other.
also, off topic though, I think one of the reasons maurizio altieri who had been totally ignored got to present his work suddenly in the prestigious spaces that those retail all stars provided and sell it in that unusual price range for a label that had been unknown to the market was cdg's recommendation. if you think about it, those carpe diem dealers in those days were also who had dealt with cdg.

thank you for the explanation runner...
i didn't know about this connection...or the carpe diem connection...
but it makes perfect sense now that you mention it...

cdg is really amazing in the way they support other talents...
they are so unique in that way...
really collaborative rather than competitive...
makes me love them even more!

junya is the shining example of this...
thanks again!...

it was around 1996, 97 when big money and marketing were overwhelming the fashion world more and more. a few years later helmut lang decided to be swallowed up. I guess cdg was struggling in that context and had to increase more and more what was really exciting, independent, and free. regardless of whether it's cdg or not. and there was a certain thirst for it in the corner of the market. carpe diem saw what to do clearly.

So after 7 years, firstview's all open again (for now) *all-you-can-grab black Friday mood*:lol:

I will not make the same mistake again of not saving these in my computer, and will go with attachments here, just because they load faster and we can still see attachments from 2004 (whereas hosting them elsewhere doesn't guarantee anything).
