JW Anderson Men's F/W 2020.21 Paris

I like it in ways I never have before. Slowly he's finding ways to find a balance between kookiness and wearability. And he left behind weirdness for weirdness sake, his historical sin.

I was just going through his collections from the last 9 years and holy cow what a positive transformation!

Goes without saying this is amazing coming from a man who used to presente frilly mini shorts in boiled wool as his menswear collection. I wish I was tall enough to pull off a padded opera coat.

This collections feels almost effortless. The way those clothes look on the body. The fitting is really nice. There's an ease to it, almost like a Celine by Phoebe for Men collection. It could be the colors and the silhouettes but still, I adore this.

You know when I saw this I instantly thought about those early collections when was heavily pushing womens silhouettes on menswear, and while there were strong ideas, the execution was often heavy handed and clumsy. Fast forward to this collection that carries some of those ideas, but executed flawlessly, effortless, sophisticated, confident... it really goes to show how much he matured as a designer. It's beautiful to see.

are we even looking at the same collection here? the fabrics look cheap, the volumes clumsy/underdeveloped, design wise there's nothing new here either.
making all the boring pieces 'interesting' by sticking an oversized chain on top of it is just too lazy.

and all of that'd be ok if there was something to wear but apart from some knits,1 coat style and trousers there's nothing to buy here either
