Yay! A fellow New Zealander! Most of the pieces are very Karen Walker, she loves her bubbly girly dresses.
But I think she made it look too much like Chloe and Miu Miu.
I don't think styling is really her forte but every single piece, when you imagine them alone and out of context, there's something quite unique about them, it's like they have a strong identity but are still created to go on about a thousand directions depending on who's wearing them.. I haven't been taken by a Karen Walker collection since probably 2005 but when I look at this, I honestly think I could wear at least a 90% of the clothes.. especially this polka-dotted dress..
This is one of the strongest collections Karen has done in a LONG time...
It is lovely... the individual pieces show so much potential...
I also love the stripes and polka dots combo... it always looks so freshly geometric....
there is something so stark and assured yet totally whimsical about that combo, esp. when paired with such a basic color palette...
The styling is also really fantastic...
I am much more attracted to the looks that are light on the twee, but in general, it's a great collection.
One of the more singular ones to come out of NYC thus far...
