KK truly used to be one of my favorite models at the time — the perfect crossover between high fashion and Victoria's Secret, with a great personality, unique look, etc. Until her VS contract signed in 2005, she was very well admired by designers as well: opening/closing for Dior, Versace, Chanel, Valentino, and many more. I think her work for VS truly made her an icon though — many iconic walks over the years and fame across the world. However, after 2005, I noticed her high fashion bookings almost went to zero, and she never had a proper HF revival, maybe except for 2011. Especially since a lot of '90s and '00s icons are returning to the fashion scene to revive the glory of the past, I wonder why Karolina is so absent from that whole slice of the cake. It seems like she couldn’t maintain close relationships with any big photographers, editors, or designers, which is very sad and not very understandable. Even VS is not trying to bring her back, which is shocking because she was a star during the brand’s peak. I don’t think it’s just that she wants to focus on her family, because she has been working a lot for smaller magazines over the past decade and even recently changed her agency for a bigger comeback — yet nothing serious has come from that either. What do you guys think?

Rumors are that VS did want her back for the show last year but they paid abysmally low and she declined to walk.

I think that KK didn't really make close friends in the industry. All of the other models who are making their comebacks, whether it's the 90s icons or the 2000s ones, they have stayed really tight with one another and with people in the fashion world. Social media has made it so. It's not an accident that Joan, Candice, Irina keep getting booked for things - and often with each other. They're very active on social media, they follow and engage with other models, as well as stylists, photographers, etc. They're networking and hustling, and as a result they're booked and blessed. And they're friends with one another. And Behati and Doutzen, too. And it's the same with the 90s icons (obviously the Supers are their own thing), but the ones like Eva, Helena, Carla, Amber, Shalom... all genuinely friends with one another, but also all engaging with the icons from other eras.

Karolina basically doesn't follow anybody in fashion. And even those she does follow, she rarely engages - she's not commenting on their posts, liking their content, etc. It's been 25 years since she started her career, and a lot of the photographers and stylists and editors she had great relationships with have retired or aren't working as much. And she never developed those friendships with the new generation. And so I never see her peers engaging with her on social media either. And on the rare occasion when she does tag someone in her stories or posts, they rarely repost her content. Probably because they're just not close.

So I personally think she needs to make more of an effort to network and connect with people on social media. She should be following all the other angels, before and since, and engaging with them on their Instagram, etc. Same with every photographer and stylist and editor she's ever worked with.
