Aussie model Kasia Zachwieja has a body that I truly admire. In one word, she is HOT! So of course no doubt about it, I wanted to interview her for myself and all my readers, to learn some of her fitness secrets! Kasia has worked all over the globe but currently calls Melbourne her home.
1. What’s your favourite way to keep fit? What’s been your greatest fitness challenge? Mostly I stick to cardio work and mix up classes at the gym. I will always go for a run outside if the weather is nice. I try and go with my gym buddies to really keep it fun. We have our own little targets and push each other.
2. You must have quite a jetsetting lifestyle, how do you keep fit when you’re travelling? I always pack my runners and choose to walk if I can…I always train harder leading up to a trip and then recover from time away.
3. Now, I know you’re not OLD!! But…is it harder or easier to stay in shape as you get older? Did you ever wish (or do you still), that you had someone else’s body? I feel healthier now than I have ever felt because I never trained when I was younger. I was thin but not healthy!! So in essence I am more happy now that I understand my body, nourish it, feed it with the things it needs and I have zoned in on the area’s that I felt conscious about. I mean, everyone has their own insecurities about their body, but nowadays I will do something about my body if I feel I need to, when I was younger I didn’t. Sure, do i look at other girls and think wow they have great this or great that.. But it’s an admiration rather than wanting to look like them. I appreciate beauty and find the most simple things beautiful in people, plus now as I get a little older I really appreciate what I have and that I can see and walk and run when I need to and that keeps me smiling.
4. People always assume that models don’t eat to stay thin! Is this true for you? I LOVE food, so I always eat, but in moderation. If I can’t kick a craving I always give in and have a little bit. I generally am pretty healthy these days and love feeling healthy. I’m obsessed with tea and have the biggest tea collection! So I always drink herbal tea after a big meal. I love to cook too, so food is a huge part of my happiness. Having said that, I’m pretty in-tune with my body and if I feel like I may have indulged a little too much in a week I will try and do a huge healthy food shop for the following week and stock up on all the right foods to keep me from straying again.
5. What do you eat/cook regularly for breakfast? I religiously get a large freshly squeezed juice from my local deli…it’s HUGE and it’s only $3 and I can’t go without it – beetroot, celery, carrot, ginger and lemon!! Or if I’m at home I will make a vital greens, acai berry, banana, rice milk smoothie and maybe throw in whatever fruits I have in the fridge.
6. Do you ever detox? Is their a particular kind you like? If I detox it means no booze, no sugars and minimal bread or wheat. That is painful but it works for me. I recently did 6 weeks of that and never felt more alive!
7. Who’s the hottest person you’ve ever worked with? Anna Vitali!
8. What’s the best health advice you’ve ever received? Hot lemon water in the morning and always let your body recover. But the best piece of advice was just to love the skin bag you were born in
9. What wisdom do you have for people struggling to get fit and healthy? Face your blockage head on. It’s a mental issue not a physical one. You have one chance in this life to be healthy. One chance, so just face you’re demons and start slowly. Walk… then jog… then run! Confront every challenge one by one and day by day. Don’t think of the end result, just keep your mind at task and mould your body. Once u start noticing a change no one will be able to stop you from staying fit.
10. What advice would you give to ‘mature-aged’ (26 year old!) models trying to find a new career after modeling? Utilise all the experience and knowledge gained from this diverse career and turn it into something! It’s not easy stepping into the ‘real world’ but the experiences can lead to huge things.
11. If you could go back and say a few words to your younger self, what would they be? Ahhhhhh I dunno! Probably just have fun doin it all again!
