Kate Bosworth beats Beyonce to Lois Lane part

Kate Bosworth has beaten Beyoncé Knowles to land the part of Lois Lane in the new 'Superman' movie.

The stunning actress, who is romancing 'Lord of the Rings' star Orlando Bloom, won the coveted role to play the Man of Steel's love interest in new film 'Superman Returns'.

She will join newcomer Brandon Routh, who will play Superman, in the movie, which is believed to feature the action hero returning to Earth to do battle with evil.

Kevin Spacey, who starred with Kate, 21, in 'Beyond The Sea', is set to take the role of Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor.

Kate's boyfriend Orlando is said to be thrilled his lover has won the as he is a huge fan.

A source said: "Orlando couldn't be more excited if he had landed the lead himself.

"He's delighted for Kate because this is a huge move for her. He really loves Superman. He used to collect all the comics."

yeah, i too was wondering about beyonce... i think she should be barred from being in movies... she already ruined carmen, i'm glad they're not letting her ruin spiderman and i wonder how long it's going to take her father to claim they didn't pick her because she's african american

market research probably showed that not enough black people would show up for the superman feature even if beyonce was in it. she does bring a certain audience to films that otherwise may not see the typical comic book flick

Ewwww, Beyonce would have ruined the whole movie.

I would personnally have prefered to see someone else with brown hair carry on the role (someone with a strong look, not too feminine).

- you do sound rascist. white or black it really shouldn't matter if an actor/actress is good for the part. although i odn't think beyonce would have been very good at all.

- thank you. i fully aggree. another pretty hollywood starlet with a stunning smile and not much talent. (much like kiera knightly who almost ruined Pirates of the Carribbean with her "acting") there are so many actresses with talent out there...why kate? why not someone like selma blair, scarlett johansson or maggie Gyllenhaal. obviously kirtsen dunst was out of the question after spiderman...but their are young hollywood actresses who are not so blatheringly dull as kate. even actresses with mediocre (but at least a modicum of) talents like natalie portman or reese whitherspoon would have been better.

sorry for blathering...but i have a penchant for comic book movies

I personally love Kate, though I agree - I don't think this role was 'made' for her, as it were
