I don't necessarily think it's a "douche" magazine. It's just a magazine aimed at heterosexual men who don't really care to read magazines, or pay any attention to anything related to high-fashion. You read a quick article on some new tech gadget, ogle the pics of some half-naked semi-celebrity, and you're done.

That being said, what the hell can she do with that? If she's hoping to "cultivate and broaden Maxim's coverage of style and culture," then that sounds like an attempt to turn it into another GQ or Details. And the man who reads Maxim isn't the same man who reads GQ or Details, much less Elle and T.

I don't know. I just don't see any connection between her and Maxim at all. But I've seen weirder things, so cheers to her.

It's certainly not building her fashion creds, so this really surprised me.

But it's a superb opportunity, if she wants to become an EIC at more prestigious mags later on. Being an EIC of any magazine requires the ability to manage a team, determine editorial direction and to increase profitability. If she does the latter well, she'll be able to call her own shots. So it could be a very shrewd move ..... time will tell.

Lol, she's the Creative Director of US Marie Claire.

It's a shame that it failed. The plan, I mean. The idea was to position Maxim as a more fashion-forward magazine in the vein of Details. With more time I think it may well have worked, but then the new owner wasn't having any of it.

Yeah, I can see the potential for Maxim to be something comparable to Details, but only with the right team & management behind it.

Whatever happened to our weird obsession with documenting every last streetstyle shot of every notable (and not-so-notable) figure in fashion? I always liked her thread most.
