Agent Kate is terminated by a younger Provocateur
30th June 2007
When Kate Moss stepped out last week looking pale and gaunt, many speculated that her modelling days were numbered. Now, just weeks after I revealed that Kate would be quietly dropped from Burberry's latest campaign, I can report that the supermodel's £500,000-a-year contract with posh underwear firm Agent Provocateur is not being renewed.
The 33-year-old model enjoyed a close friendship with the store's owners, Vivienne Westwood's son Joe Corre and his wife Serena Rees.

But their relationship was compromised earlier this year when Serena ran off with Paul Simonon, former bassist of rock band The Clash – and the husband of one of Kate's best friends.
Fashion sources say the relationship between Kate and Serena is now 'very strained' – and they insist it is the underlying reason why Kate's contract has not been renewed. Last week Serena confirmed that the label has dropped Kate and will shortly be announcing a younger replacement.
Speaking at the V&A's 150th anniversary celebrations, she told me: "Our current campaign with Kate comes to an end in August and we've already chosen our new face. It's top-secret but she's quite different. She's not sexy in an overt way." A friend of the supermodel last night said that Kate had hoped to renew her 12-month contract with the firm. "Kate really enjoyed doing the campaign for Agent Provocateur. It was a big comeback shoot and she looked incredible," said the source. "Kate was paid half a million pounds for her services, so obviously it was something she could continue doing. But when Serena ran off with Paul it made things complicated. Serena has been saying it was her decision not to use Kate." A friend of Kate said: "Kate's work with Agent Provocateur was a one-off arrangement, almost as a favour for friends and there was never any long-term commitment from either side."
