Kate Moss arrives to launch Topshop range in New York... wearing one of her creations

01st April 2009
Hands in their pockets, the two New Yorkers seemed less than impressed by the blonde walking past.
But for thousands of fashion lovers in the city this is the moment they have been waiting for.
Kate Moss was at the eagerly anticipated new Topshop store, on the eve of the public opening, to meet invited guests and launch her new designs.

Who's that then? New Yorkers look on as Kate Moss arrives at the new store with Chloe, the daughter of Topshop owner Sir Philip Green

The 35-year-old arrived wearing her favourite outfit from her new collection - a flared full-skirted dress which will retail for £60.
The striped dress takes its inspiration from a vintage item that Kate picked up at an LA thrift store - but which didn't fit.
She teamed it with a black blazer and star broach, black tights and black heels.
Kate was accompanied by Chloe, the 17-year-old daughter of Topshop boss Sir Philip Green.
Tonight Kate will show off the range to a carefully picked selection of invited guests.
But tomorrow the Broadway store will be open to all, with signs in the window advertising the grand opening.
Kate will appear as special guest, as the billionaire Arcadia group owner Sir Philip and his wife Lady Green throw open the doors of the flagship American store for the first time.
The four-storey shop, a similar design to the Oxford Street flagship in London, opens in New York’s SoHo neighborhood tomorrow after six months of construction delays, including fire and flooding.

The collection features a selection of summer dresses, including this £55 Liberty print (L) and a £250 sunburst diamante evening dress

Kate’s new fashion line for the brand, her ninth collection for Topshop, goes on sale globally the same day.
The New York store has 200 workers, 32 changing rooms, a DJ booth, and a shoe lounge.
And despite the opening being at a time of global belt-tightening, it has sparked a fever of anticipation within the city.
If the new Topshop proves a success Sir Philip plans to open a second store in Manhattan and eventually to expand to Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston.

The range encompasses everything from flapper girl-style sequinned dresses to snakeskin-printed hot pants and short-sleeeved, tassled jackets.

Standout pieces include a dramatic black suede biker jacket, adorned with painted and embellished feathers around the neckline, at £120, and a £60 striped dress inspired by one Kate picked up in an LA thrift shop.

A key feature of the new line is a series of bold prints which the Croydon-born beauty reworked from the archive of department store Liberty. Among the new patterns – which are used on tunic tops and maxi dresses – is bluebell design Lilabell, named after her six year-old daughter Lila.:flower:
hello !

I would have loved seeing her speak to all the TopShop employees at NYC store...200 workers? Wonder if she was speaking to all of them? I bet there was some awestruck people in that vicinity. :crush:

I love these photos! Am I the only one who is actually excited about this season's collection? It looks so much better than it has been!

I don't know if i should be happy or sad about this. I like going to London to shop at places we don't have here in the states.

I actually love her new collection, the shoot for it is amazing too.
And like the rest of you guys I really want that poster too ^_^

Loved the ad campaign and the wing jacket is really interesting, actually my favorite piece.

Yeah, it's all Topshop now...she doesn't look around for interesting, unusual stuff...I wonder if she still collects clothes, her past few new pieces look all the same (tux jacket, ankle boots, one or two pieces of jewellery or costume...)

I guess, deep down, she's not that keen on clothes anymore...they've become a job, period. Such a shame; no one else can be nowadays as inspiring as she was once...
