I couldn't agree more with you, Laisla, you have really portrayed the essence of it all, so thank you:flower:

Still, I think the DM candid looks very real, but I don't think Kate looks bad in it, maybe just an 'unfortunate' expression and harsh sunlighting..

Kate's 'flaws' (hate that word!) is what makes her interesting, real, human, beautiful and alive and to me that makes perfection (whatever that is anyway):)

i never have patience to comment on pictures like that - photoshopped or not. has anyone seen the fake cover someone made with a candid shot of her in the UK Vogue thread? i think it was deleted by the mods... it wasn't photoshopped (and there was nothing wrong with it:huh:) but the idea was ridiculous... it was written "kate in all her glory" (tigerrouge said everything that had to be said about that though, so i didn't even bother answering).
the problem with this kind of discussion is that sometimes it gets too passionate, bordering ultra-feminism, which i don't like, but i think you went right to the point laisla.

Out Now

Number 23 of Monster Children is the 'not so annual' Photo Issue. In fact, it's only the second one we've done. It has turned out pretty damn nicely however. This issue the cover situation is a little different to usual. Our Newsagent distributor didn't share the same affinity for Hedi Slimane's shot of Kate Moss' breasts as us, so this cover will only be available at bookstores, online, and for some lucky subscribers. While the newsagents copies will have a selection of photos that we've printed and stuck to the front. Sometimes we're so clever. Inside we’ve spoken to Hedi Slimane, Tim Barber and Richard Kern and have got a whole bunch of pretty pictures from many more.

I love how Daily Mail have just taken the pics from style.com and resized them. Incredible exclusive as ever.

 Yes Ladyflash I just noticed that too, come on Daily Mail, a bit of effort please.

I have to agree with Carrme that photograph does make her look very youthful.

The problem with the Rimmel advert was it was false advertising. They were advertising a mascara they said would make lashes appear longer and look like the way Kate's was in the advert when in fact that wasn't caused by the mascara but by false eyelashes. So it was misleading to the public and was making them blieve they would get eyela\shes likes Kate's with this mascara when they wouldn't.
Ofcom have very strict rules about advertisements.

Three cheers to you! The media completely builds women up into these ridiculously unrealistic paragons of beauty and then loves to tear them down. Both sides are totally misogynistic. I'm so in agreement with you that neither the idolizing nor the tearing to shreds of female celebrities results in so called 'normal' women feeling better about themselves. Prhaps if there was more realism in the media rather than extreme praise or extreme critism (or inthis case extreme photoshopping) 'normal' women wouldn't feel bad to begin with.
Also, wasn't Rimmel fined for Kate's mascara ads because she was in fact wearing false eyelashes? Aren't there laws regarding how far you can go photoshopping? Or are they only applicable to advertisements?

I think it's more an issue of idealizing and then tearing them down when they show the normal aspects of aging. Back in the day....stars like Elizabeth Taylor were still idolized even though her figure was not very well maintained. People focused on her beautiful aspects - saphire eyes, radiant smile and grace...instead of focusing on those aspects that are prone to deteriorate with age...

Of course, I wasn't around at the time...but I have seen old mags with Elizabeth...she was very far from perfect by today's standards, and yet she was revered and on the cover of Vogue, idealized for her beauty still.

I don't think idealization is a problem - it's a natural feeling to enjoy the looks of people around you - the abnormal thing is to constantly compare yourself to them and obsess over differences you perceive in your disfavor.

Kate gets a new thread so often, I didnt see the recent collaborative effort with Hedi Slimane posted, (if so, all apologies :p ) so here we go:

I forgot how great the Libération shoot was, looking back its probably one her best.
Hedi really captures Kate's personality. She exudes a sexiness and confidence only an older woman can possess. This is why these 14 year old girls that the industry is obsessed with have nothing on her.

I think 7,9 and 11 may be outtakes [at least they are new to me]
karma :flower:

The first and last shot are new to me (and gorgeous) so thanks!

Oh I love that shoot! One of my favorites Kate has ever done. She looks sooo gorgeous. I loved her hair like that, but I'm sure that fringe was a pain in the *** to maintain and thats probably why she grew it out. I totally agree with laisla, in my opinion almost none of the other supers have anything on her let alone the latest flock of tweens.

I'm happy I posted them then. :) I like when there are outtakes posted on Hedi's site.

The very last one, I agree, ladyflash, is a very striking gorgeous photo of her.
