THE supermodel Kate Moss has apologised to one of her important employers for taking drugs after she was caught on camera snorting cocaine.
Hennes & Mauritz said last night that it would use Moss as the face of its forthcoming clothing range, after she expressed regret for her actions and promised to clean up. However, the company, which has expressed its shock at the photographs, reminded her that she had signed a contract in which she agreed to be “healthy, wholesome and sound”.
Despite the apparent breach of contract, a spokeswoman for the company said last night: “She has declared to us that she is very regretful. We have decided to give her a second chance.”
H&M, whose contract with Moss is worth £1 million to her, had already shot the pictures that will be used to advertise their new campaign by Stella McCartney. It will arrive in the shops on November 10.
The spokeswoman added: “As a company we are against drugs and alcohol abuse, but we want to believe in people. We have received guarantees that she will abide by the agreement she signed.”
French Vogue magazine, currently completing its December issue under the editorship of Moss, also looks likely to stick by the model, but some of the world’s largest fashion labels appear likely to drop her from photoshoots.
