MOSS DESIGNS SLAMMED IN NEW YORK

Supermodel KATE MOSS returned to the UK this morning after a two-day
business trip in New York to promote her new Topshop range - but the
designs have been panned by American fashionistas, who have labelled her
designs "a bore".
Fashion critics in New York have slammed Moss' line for being almost
exact replicas of designer pieces from her own wardrobe, with the New
York magazine dismissing the Croydon-born catwalk star as "a
working-class girl from a crap town."
But Harpers Bazaar features director Kristina O'Neill has defended the
33-year-old's range, saying, "If you're buying into the Kate Moss
collection, you're buying into the Kate Moss image. And that's what
she's delivered."
Moss is due back in the Big Apple on 8 May, where she is due to make
an appearance to launch her Topshop collection at upmarket department
store Barneys. (MT/WN)

Hello Umm Zain, you are very bold to step up and confess that you are a Mossaholic. Your courage has inspired me...

Hello my name is CiaoManhattan, the fiend that Umm Zain speaks of. I just recently bought a pair of black minnetonkas, and a two Alex + Chloe Kate Necklaces :innocent: Therefore, I decided to lure other Mossaholics into purchasing these things as well :ninja:
You! Soooo, it's your fault! Well, I'll have you know, I've resisited your temptation and refrained from purchasing the Alex + Chloe Kate necklaces! Hah! So, there! (Actually, it was only because I have a favorite pendant I'm wearinf right now and I just can't part with it...)

I agree with this comment 100%. Kate intended to design clothes that embodied the "Kate Moss" image and I think that's exactly what she's done.

So, I found this snippet of one of her interviews on YouTube. It was by photographer David Bailey for his 1998 "Models Close Up" documentary and there's only about three minutes there (I wish there was more), but it's a nice insite into Kate and her early career: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XInXQGqxu-0

I think the press needs to give her a break. I mean some pieces are obviously rip offs of stuff she's worn before, but this is her FIRST collection and considering that she's never done this before I think she did a great job. Part of being a designer is putting out stuff that people want to wear and she did a great job of picking the best stuff out of her closet. Plus there is a fair amount of new stuff. She never really worn anything with embrodery like in the bathing suit, playsuit, caftan. And she's using more color in this collection that usual (see the red shorts/red pants). Plus the long skirts are pretty new.

I think that it's important to stress that this is her first collection. I have faith that in the next collection she'll draw less from her own closet and more from her imagination.

Also, the real test of her clothing (maybe not of all her clothing but certainly her jeans) the test will be the fit and the judgement on that won't be out until the clothes come out.

The press do need to give a break yes. I'm sure she doesn't really care what the media have to say!!

I disagree... She's all that and a bag of chips! The women is amazing and sooo gorge!

Kate moss is pretty gal, and quite stylish, but I'm worried for the world if she is the type of person we hail as "amazing" she is just a model after all, I don't feel she's really done anything (besides being fashion forward) that is all that admirable. Just a thought.

I believe it's because she has this especial appeal of "just" being. She is an icon of a generation, the face of a decade after all. At least she's amazing at what she does (being a model, I mean).
