Topshop presents the Kate Moss Christmas 2009 collection with oriental-inspired pieces for day and evening festive wear

[ClickPress, Thu Oct 22 2009] Kate Moss Topshop Christmas 2009 collection launches October 29 2009. The collection presents an assortment of luxurious yet sophisticated oriental-inspired pieces for day and evening festive wear, along with an exclusive lingerie preview online.

Influences of traditional Chinese and Japanese clothing run through the collection. The Cheongsam dress, normally made in embroidered satin is brought up to date in a gunmetal lurex knit whilst kimono shape dresses in chiffons and silks offer a sensual laid-back style. The sleeves on the 'Geisha Rose' print blouse are voluminous and bell-shaped. Prints of bamboo, flying stalks, lotus flowers and fireworks are flamboyant reflecting the richness of the orient.

Knitwear is given glamorous details, offering comfort and sparkle for winter dressing. A soft grey cashmere tunic is dressed up with a silver beaded obi belt whilst two classic knit crew-neck jumpers in slate grey and navy are spruced up with jewelled shoulder pads stitched to the outside of the garment. A series of lurex-striped shrugs and sequinned knit waistcoats when worn over a casual outfit add instant night-time luxury.

The black rectangular jagged sequin bandeau maxi dress epitomises festive party-wear mixed with Kate's signature rock-n-roll style. Elsewhere a traditional floral beaded long sleeve dress is one-shouldered and the skirt of a strapless mini dress is covered in black mesh petals and gold beads. Snake print leather obi belts wrap around smart dresses and ostrich feathers adorn the sleeves of a shift dress.

Continuing from the previous season, Christmas embraces chic, smart tailoring. An exquisite satin pencil skirt in navy or black is asymmetrically buttoned down the front and a black grosgrain boat neck shift dress is the ultimate in ladylike dressing. A shrunken Victoriana jacket with frogging and cornelli detailing is easy to wear, and a jacquard Princess coat with jewelled buttons stands out from the collection.

Underwear makes a prominent return this season, with the debut of nightwear and an exclusive online preview of the new lingerie range. Beautiful printed chiffons in triangle shape bras and teddies are feminine, whilst a leopard print balcony bra with an eyelash lace trim has instant sex-appeal. Floral printed silk pyjamas are adorned with an embroidered 'K' and come with a drawstring bag in the same material making it the perfect gift for Christmas.

When asked what the inspiration was behind the new nightwear collection, Kate said: "I love beautiful nightwear, it makes you feel great. I've collected millions of vintage slips, nighties, camis and bed jackets. Who doesn't want fab nightwear for Christmas?"
Where's this from? did it come with any pictures?

i love the minnetonkas. want some!!

Actually those are the Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain boots from the Fall/Winter 08 collection, not Minnetonkas. She's worn them before, but only once or twice. They're like high-heeled Minnetonkas, but better.

Oh yeah! I love the heeled version.

i adore those boots. i accidentaly found some knockoffs in dark brown and had to buy them - very comfortable by the way.
her outfits have been nicer lately but what i'm curious to see is whether she'll have any other cover or ed before 2010 - hopefully a more different ed. i want to see her working as the model she is instead of just being kate in leather, studs and balmain.

I would be surprised if she had another cover before 2010 since she had so many in the last few months but you can never say never with Vogue UK!

Ouh ..in the last picture, with golden dresses..there is absolutely all the Top Model in this picture...I just don't know the one between Christy and Carla!?..

Kate Moss introduces her new collection for Topshop, and talks about frocks - and fame
Interview by Eva Wiseman

Kate Moss has an office, off to the left above Topshop, that smells sweetly of ****. Inside, picking delicately at a packet of crisps, Moss is describing her new collection. "Feature sleeves!" she squeals. "Floaty things! Sexy things! That kimono feeling!" She gestures with black-nailed hands. "The details! The details!" Grabbing an evening coat from a rail, she shows me its shiny buttons. "This is my favourite piece. I'd wear it with a thick tight and high shoe. Classic. Here, I'll give you a demo." She pulls it on over her black T-shirt and juts a hip in my direction. I sit on my hands to avoid applauding.

This is Kate Moss's fourth collection for Topshop, and it launches in a month the tabloids began to delight in highlighting her wrinkles – but in the flesh she glows, like she's carved from frozen brandy butter.

"I have three wardrobes – one big one and two everyday ones, and recently I hired some people to come in and sort them out. They archived everything, putting it all in paper and boxes, labelled with Polaroids. It's gorgeous. I've had a couple of parties there, in my dressing room. So many looks! So many hats!"

Her Topshop designs are born in these deep, deep wardrobes – with the stylist Katy England she picks the "most beautiful elements" from her favourite pieces and redesigns them for the masses. When rebuilding her vintage pieces, she admits to occasionally feeling "a bit reluctant to share my stuff with millions of people", but says: "I'm not possessive. I'm a bit caring-sharing. You don't get precious about clothes when you're in fashion. You know. Easy come."

Last year Moss had her perfect pair of pyjamas made in Hong Kong, but her boyfriend stole them ("Jamie lived in that pyjama top all summer") so she's included a silk copy in the new range, which also features a selection of luxe lingerie. "And I've test-run all the underwear, too. My boyfriend likes the lot. It's all very sexy, but not nasty-sexy, glamorous-sexy. Not vulgar. I love the lounging suit, and I do like a pyjama. I wore a pair out as eveningwear in New York once, and there was a massive snowstorm. We couldn't get a cab, so I had to walk home in them. It was freezing, but they did look good."

She takes alternate sips from a bottle of water and a glass of white wine, and wipes a glint of glitter from her left cheekbone. "When I work with photographers I become a muse, sort of. But it's not me. It's this character that they make me into. I've no idea why people are so interested in me. It makes me a bit uncomfortable talking about it, actually." She twists awkwardly in her chair. "I don't like being famous, no. It… encroaches on your life. A lot. It's something I'm still learning to deal with. If I can keep people interested in my work for another few years I'll be happy. But the thing I'm always most proud of is my daughter. She's seven now, and vice captain of her class! My goodness!" Moss opens her mascara-ed eyes as wide as they'll go. "I've never been vice captain of anything! She wants to be a chef, and her imaginary husband is a chef too. I was mother of the bride at their imaginary wedding, standing on the side holding her imaginary baby."

The Kate Moss for Topshop plan is to go expensive. The next collection will be smaller – fewer vests and T-shirts, more £100 dresses and limited edition jackets. "I don't think people buy these things because they want to look like me," Moss says. "They buy them because they know that I have an input, and that I really know about fashion, about fit. And so I should," she says, looking suddenly wise and briefly weary. "I've had 20 years. Twenty years of clothes on my back."
