^ She's so dull, boring, and lifeless in that editorial. I never understood the critiques of her modeling abilities until I saw that ed. She's attractive, but it's like she's a robot.

An attractive robot, quite an accurate description of the way she photographs... This being said, this spread from Vogue Paris may even be one of my favorites from all she's done lately. The lifeless and bored aspect (I see her more bored than boring in that editorial, actually) suits the atmosphere and she looks gorgeous with that hairdo. And Alasdair McLellan can make me swallow almost everything these days so I'm not going to complain too much. I don't think another model would have done this "excercise" better so, hiring her wasn't a bad choice at all. The i-D story, to give a recent example, could have been way more powerful with someone more expressive as main character, someone with more flaws in her facial features and spark in her eyes.

^ That does also suit Nadja and Marie who both happen to book so many campaigns and let alone campaigns for a reason that is not very clear to me. I think everyone is obsessed with the concept of mature-looking and smart women who are supposed to have life experience but the practical execution of this concept is rather lazy and dull. Looking at the editorial work of most of these young women, there's no slight difference between them and the young doll babies everyone was flipping out for a few years ago (except of physical features of course).

Completely agree on Nadja and Marie... and it seems we're witnessing another battle of numbers instead of a real aesthetic shift, sometimes. Models like Aymeline or Saskia are true specimens of a more mature-looking young woman but definitely not everyone above 22-25 can fit the category. It's a matter of what a model can express, not of what's written on her passport.

TOUCHé!

I wonder how long this will go on. I keep coming back to this thread AND nadja's AND Marie's and no ed. nor campaign is showing any sense of print development. Are we officially discovering a trend; the brunette robot?

Kati is a stunning woman and I was hoping to see she would also be a good print model, but alas. Young girls like Elza or Anniek are kicking Kati's @ss when it comes to range and emotions.
