Keeping Hair Straightend - Styling and Product Recommendations

Yeah, I once took my Chi straightener to Europe and used the "correct" power converter and it totally exploded. So good idea on leaving the straightener at home. :)

I have natural wavy/curly hair and I really like Kerastase's Serum Oleo Relax when I want straighter hair. It definitely doesn't straighten it out completely, but it makes the curl a bit softer and a lot smoother. It's also a good product to use before blowdrying hair. (Maybe you could buy an inexpensive blowdryer while you're there.) However my hairstylist said not to put it on dry hair before ironing it- otherwise you are really frying your hair.

Good luck and have a great time!!

Sorry- don't know why it posted so many time! For some reason I cannot edit/delete them.

Thanks for your reply, all three of them!

A friend almost convinced me to take my straightners with me last night, but you've definately put me off that idea again! :D

XxX

Hopefully I will just reply once this time. :) You should just buy a cheap one once you get to Asia. You don't want to feel self-conscious while traveling and if it's not too expensive, you won't feel bad for using it just for a couple of months. That's what I did after my Chi blew up. :)

Tresemme Heat Tamer works quite well...here's what I do:
after a shower when my hairs still wet I spray it into my hands then work it into my hair, avoiding the roots, almost like I'm pulling it into a ponytail, while smoothing it in. Then I blow dry and straighten it, it works like a dream!

You can use a good ceramic hair straightner. Also Frederick Fekkai Technician Glaze is awsome! You must try it. Its like 18-20 bucks I think, worth the price cause it lasts a long long time cause you only need 2-3 drops on your hair. Once I straighten my hair with this stuff its perfect! I only have to straighten my hair once or twice in a few areas. Makes my hair extra shiney and silky. Keeps my hair straight from day to night unless my hair gets wet! but thats a great hair straightening product you must try.

I blowdry with redken stragiht and use redken glass and a starightening iron- I want to try GHD straightener- is it worth it?

^^^ Yes the GHD straighteners are very good, I have very thick, curly hair and it straightens it really well ... by far the most effective of the many straightners I've used

I just bought a pro variable corioliss hair straightener. Its suppose to be a curler as well but I don't really know how to curl it. I saw them demonstrate it in Selfridges but when I tried doing it myself I couldn't.. it'll just come out straight. Can anyone help?

My sister's unruly curls stay straight for days on end if she uses paul mitchell heat seal before she takes a flat iron to her hair. I should try that sometime because I have problems keeping my own hair straight...
