what do you do with old clothes?
do you leave it in your wardrobe?
donate it away?

i sometimes like to keep my clothes for remembering the times i had in them, bad or good :p , even if i don't wear them anymore?
is anyone like that?

While I do keep a few of the clothes I loved as a kid I'll donate anything I know I won't wear at all, unless it's worth a decent sum at sites like ebay, or only worthy of the bin.

Some i keep cause good memories, some i keep cause "maybe my future daughter will be happy like i am now when finding great clothes in mom's old wardrobe" and some i donate. ^_^

^ did your mom keep clothes for you? i think that'll be so much fun to wear vintage clothes! i plan to do that for my 'future' girl , ages away though :P
i'm so tempted to cut them up and make it into something though

^ i don't think she kept those especially for me. she just didn't want to throw them out ^^ but it's a lot of fun, really. ^_^

I give them for my sister in law, and she gives me her old clothes... :p
I love her wardrobe, she has good taste...
In fact I find a lot of my clothes in my familly' wardrobe (my aunts, my cousin...)

It's good getting 'pass-downs' from relations, i prefer this than thrift shopping, which kind of creeps me out in a way.

lol fashionlives, why does thrift shopping creep you out. (i've tried it...it just doesn't work for me :(

:P

well it really does for some reason....maybe scary stories?

and also (not the word 'creep but....) because it was owned by someone i don't knoe and i don't knoe where they have gone in it? (even if i wash it!)
i like to be very clean and new with my clothes =)

i wonder if anyone else is creeped out?

but i love the vintage designs you can find on ebay (i haven't ordered any though!) and i'll love not to be creeped out by it to buy it! because they seem so unique and special!

^ I agree, I dont really look at vintage because I dont know who else has worn the stuff before me. It grosses me out, like the person could've been really sweaty or dirty. It's just a dumb thing but it stil bugs me, whatever people say about it all being 'cleaned'.

In reply to the post, I keep old things if they remind me of a good time in my past. And when I'm inside just lounging about then I throw on old clothes, so they're quite useful in that sense :)

I actually have a couple old pieces of my mom's, except I can't wear half of them since she was a size 6 and I'm a size 12-14, and also my arms are longer-a jacket that she had (that I now have) that worked perfectly for her is a few inches short in the wrist but it works fine, I'll roll up the bottom part of the sleeve.

I tend to keep my clothes for a long time, partially because I am young and I have pieces in my closet that I've had since 4th, 5th, 6th grade. If I really don't like an old piece I give it away however a lot of my older clothes from that time I've gotten rid of because I can no longer fit into them, or because they are ugly. I'll always keep things like my "Everyone Loves A Valley Girl" shirt because my mom is in her early 50's and she can get away with wearing some tops from the Juniors department and it doesn't make her look too young, but also if I adopt a girl I'll have some things for her to wear.

I wish my Mom would have kept all her old clothes, judging from photographs she owned some rather amazing pieces. I personally rarely throw something away, mostly I only lose interest and forget old stuff in the depths of my wardrobe where it stays until it's called vintage and cool again.

I am huge donator to my local salavation army. They get like 40 bags a year from me. hihi
I only keep afew well picked cloths like stuff I have bought in england or I just feel a conceting with. I wish my mom had keept some of her dresses but having younger sister meant they got them..

I'm keeping EVERYTHING!!!!! it's outside in my back office area! I have to come up with a system on how to store the items. but I'm keeping everything. who knows....I may have a daughter one day and she'll want something.^_^

i have a really hard time getting rid of ANYTHING. there's always a nagging voice saying "maybe you'll want to wear this again sometime and it won't be here..." even if i haven't worn it in years. i also develop very strong emotional attachments to a lot of my clothes.

mostly though, anything i get rid of i give to my little cousin, so i can still see it sometimes. haha.

My wardrobe is constantly renewed, I never keep old clothes! I either give it to my maid or just donate it to some poor people. I hate seeing something i've worn for so long in my wardrobe.

as im still quite young i want to keep everything i can incase i want to wear it again in the future as most of my clothes go practically unworn and arent cheap.i keep them all stored away and i cant wait until when i return from uni to the joy of loads of clothes i forgot i had....well thats the plan anyway :)

I do wardrobe cleaning once every 2 years, anything I havent touched in the last year gets thrown out to consignment or st vincent de paul/salvation army.

There are like just a handful of stuff that I keep, those I really like or have memories, not many though, theres simply not enough space

Wardrobe fills up so fast :(, need to keep donating old things away, sometimes a tough decision, just don't have the room
