Apparently the papers in London are calling her the "British Britney Spears"......

I say it's her own business if she cuts her foot or catches polio. ^_^ Over here though we have a no shoes, no shirt, no service type signs on stores.

Dont see anything wrong with it. Some summers I have been known to do it myself if my shoes are annoying me. Not as a rule though.

LOL, when I saw the title I thought maybe she got married in Vegas or something.

Totally forgot about that incident.

I've been to London a million times and as clean as I think it is, I still wouldn't walk barefoot through it. You never know what person has puked, peed or bled on sidewalks. That's really gross.

I think you can pick up worms and other parasites from the ground as well

haha, i like that. B)

once it gets a little warmer here all those philosophy students walk barefoot around campus, and sit in class with black feet, i think it's disgusting, and i don't understand what's the pleasure in walking barefoot, it just hurts?

Oh please, the world is too germ obsessed. Especially America. No wonder all their kids are riddled with allergies. A little immunity helps. It doesn't hurt at all! It feels somewhat liberating, especially in stuffy St John's Wood.

Anyway she has some massive calves on her otherwise thin frame.

ew i am so paranoid about germs that i could never do this! but if it doesn't bother her than more power to her!

^britney spears was once photographed while stepping out of a public toilet wearing no shoes. everybody thought that was quite unappetizing.

I've actually walked around the mall barefoot once, but that was because my flip-flops were digging into the space between my toes.

Do I understand why you would just walk around barefoot on the street? No, but I've seen and heard crazier things.

Hey, with good reason. You can get all sorts of nasy things when you walk around barefoot....for one, you can get plantar's warts on your feet--which I can attest to, having used to walk around barefoot a lot. Now I'm paying for it-- I had to have two plantar warts removed (very painful) and am now struggling with a plantar wart that is taking forever to go away and is somewhat uncomfortable.

You can also get nail fungus, which my dad has. Very gross.

I just think that people like Keira and Britney can afford flip flops from Target- they come in a nice bronze, black, or silver shade and are very very thin. And to top it off, they're eight bucks! There is an alternative to no shoes at all... :yuk:

I can't belive things like this make news.

 me too!, i thought she got married for a day

haha.. barefoot. wasn't nicole barefoot too somewhere? maybe its a new trend :p

LOL.. ive heard things about how some shoes can be harmful and barefoot is best. maybe this trend can be healthy :p

I dont mind walking barefoot on my road, but thats a quiet neighbourhood road. If i was downtown, I woudlnt walk around barefoot, not so much because of "germs"..but more of cutting my foot, or stepping in someones gum.
My grandma died because she walked around barefoot all the time though, many many years ago before medicine could fix her problem. Her foot was cut and it became infected, and so on..

Good post. I loooove walking arounf barefoot - inside my own house. We never wear shoes in our house, and I dislike slippers most of the time. I've gone barefoot in my house/yard for 28 years and never developed a single wart, fungus, or even a cut. Couple bee stings as a kid, but that's it. Guess I'm lucky ^_^

Been rethinking the outdoors though lately, and have been more cautious, as my mother, also a life-long barefooter on our property who'd never had a problem in 53 years, ripped her big toe nail off last December. True, it was the wheelbarrow full of firewood and not anything on the ground, but it wouldn't have happened had she been wearing shoes. It's still not fully regrown and has been tremendously painful for her.

I would never, ever go barefoot down the streets of a city, or out and about more than running across the street to the neighbor to borrow something, with barefeet. It's too much of a risk - you don't know what's been there, if there's disease and glass and whatnot. When I see other people doing it in public but outside, I'm not grossed out, but am a bit concerned. I get anxious. When they're in a store or something though...ew. I don't know why, they could be perfectly clean people, but it really bothers me, and seems low class, and I feel prejudiced. Like how are you going to handle a shopping transaction when you can't put on a pair of shoes. We were in Ikea - one of the huge warehouse style ones - for about 5 hours last week and my boyfriend sat down, took his sandles off to rest his feet, and didn't want to put them back on, saying no one would notice or care. I just about died :D

Im concious of walking barefoot to my garage to get something out of my car, I tippy toe the whole way...I could never walk in public barefoot, Im way too nutty, although I do like the feeling of my feet on hot pavement...

She looks supremely nuts, is she the new Helena Boham Carter?

I once had to walk home barefoot through the streets of DC after my sandals were sucked off in a flash rain storm (I stepped off a curb and into about four inches of rushing water and there they went!). That was gross, but I love walking around my house and the area around my house barefoot. I think people are a little too uptight about some things.

I can't even walk barefoot on a beach... I'm super paranoid I'll step on broken glass.. its one of my biggest fears along with getting my hand stuck in the garbage disposal...
