Greene really was having some trouble keeping her marshmallow on a stick. Lefevre was a pro. And Lutz, how cute is he?

Lutz and Greene loved the tree shoot and kept each other laughing up there the whole time. Cute Cullen moment!

It was a summer day in Malibu, but Lutz, Green and Lefevre (who all actually really like each other in real life) lounged in delicious fall knits for SELF's fashion team.

Lutz brought his dog, Kola, to the shoot. Almost as cute as he is.

We were shocked when Lutz showed up with the light hair (it was so much darker in Twilight as Emmett), but we loved the look.

When the sun started to go down, those knits finally came in handy. There were lots of different set-ups because everything looked amazing on the three of them, who were all heading to Comic-Con (a fan festival) later that week.

Lefevre, Greene and Lutz did this walking show about 10 different times, each one just a little bit different. Some were vampire menacing, some were playful, but all of them looked amazing.

When Kellan Lutz found himself locked in a death grip with a diaper-clad baby chimpanzee on a photo shoot, he knew he had stumbled into the right business. “He was pretty strong, but I still came out victorious,” says the 24-year-old actor, best known for playing Emmett Cullen, the bulky big brother to Robert Pattinson’s Edward, in the much-obsessed-over Twilight films. In order to get into fighting shape for the combat-heavy Eclipse, the third film in the series, Lutz spent much of the summer getting his body into full beat-down mode. The aspiring action hero even tussled with the movie’s producers over performing his own stunts. “I want to be the guy who actually gets shot and gets his leg broken but keeps on fighting,” Lutz insists. “I want that to be my face on the screen.” (Lutz admits that his character in next year’s A Nightmare On Elm Street remake won’t keep fighting—it’s hard to make it past Freddy Krueger alive.)
But lest audiences think Lutz is all brawn and no brains, they should know that he reads his beloved Kindle between takes. They should also know he gave up a scholarship in chemical engineering to pursue a lucrative modeling career—only to give up his modeling career to pursue an even more lucrative film career. If it gets more lucrative, watch out: Lutz compiles potential inventions in a notebook and cautions, madscientist-style, “If I had millions of dollars I could do something with chemical compounds, some really intense stuff.”

Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz arrived back in Vancouver early Sunday to finish off filming for Twilight Eclipse in Vancouver, now entering the final days of production and, more and more, approaching what’s looking like a permanent farewell to Canada’s West Coast.

So heads up Vancouver Twi-Hards, they’ll soon be gone. Throw pride and shame to the gutter and stalk them now while you can. Give Kellan Lutz a hug of relief too. Am told exclusively that he narrowly avoided a bad accident recently on set when a transport golf cart went rogue. A makeup artist was injured and after treatment will make a full recovery.

Some excerpts from the interview:

How did Kola enter your life?

KL: I have always been a huge advocate for saving animals, so I found it fitting, when I was ready for something new in my life, to look around the local animal shelters....She looked me in the eyes, bowed and slowly and softly licked my open hand. As I pet this beautiful dog I realized how soft her multi-colored coat was, and felt her desperation for a real home. Our connection was so strong that it was like fate bringing us together. I knew she was the one. That was three years ago.

What are your top five things to do with Kola?

KL: ....She is also the best nighttime cuddler, though she sprawls out and takes over my bed and makes me sleep on the edge...the love and cuddling makes us both pass out instantly. It's a good thing I have a California king-size bed so that I have a little room.

What has Kola taught you about life?

KL: Kola has taught me to be a man....I hope I have given her some deserved happiness.
