Kelly Ash L.A. Grundge Chic
Posted on May 4, 2011 by Paloma Trygar
Kelly Ash’s L.A. style is an inspiration for all who love to dress in vintage threads. A self-proclaimed female version of Stevie Nicks–she’s a model, blogger, and online vintage boutique owner. Kelly Ash has got it going on. She’s addicted to maxi everything, including this vintage maxi-skirt. She’s also addicted to anything paying homage to the ole’ red, white, and blue like these kickin’ leggings and killer shades.
What’s so great about Kelly’s style is that she uses a grouping of vintage pieces that you wouldn’t expect to work together, and she makes it look polished. Her renewal of all things vintage has a way of making old things look up-to-date and fresh. It’s no longer out of fashion to pay tribute to your favorite 70’s rock band with a vintage tee paired with short shorts and combat boots. It’s the free spirit/ I don’t give a damn vibe that totally makes grunge-chic so killer.
Self-confidence always boosts an outfit, but this sassy attitude really sends it through the roof. Want to steal her look? This maxi dress may not be vintage, but it still looks the part. If you really want to embrace Kelly Ash’s hippie/rocker style, you’ll just have to shop the thrift stores. And don’t forget that one girl’s so-last decade is another girl’s here and now.
MADLEY X HARPER SMITH
My former boss lady and jewelry designer extraordinaire, Corey Madley, never fails to bring a sense of whimsy to everything she does, whether it’s her bad *** knitwear, sunken treasure-like jewelry, or any of her styling endeavors. I just stumbled upon a shoot she did with the uber talented photographer Harper Smith called “Lazarus” and was even more excited to see that they shot our Luv Aj SS11 Lookbook model, Kelley Ash.
