LANVIN FALL/WINTER 2012 CAMPAIGN: RACHEL TRACHTENBURG, PH: STEVEN MEISEL

^ The "street casting" was more of a casting for semi-famous fashion bloggers, it seems. But the campaign is excellent, otherwise.

Best campaign of the season hands down !! Can't wait to see the full set and the menswear shots.

^ Ooh, love this one ... love the lion, the Happy ... OK, everything :p

And I guess Steven Meisel does have some talent, little though you'd know it from his work for Vogue ...

I really like this! The clothes and accessories look luscious in every shot! I love the idea behind this campaign and I applaud Alber and Meisel for using real people. One seems to identify with the clothes more and can see themselves wearing them, at least that's how I interpret it.

^ They are none of them average, but perhaps the point is that Lanvin will lift us above the ordinary ;)

The dressing room theme makes the accessories everywhere make sense, I love that. So often accessories ads are of a woman wearing no clothes, covering the good bits with a handbag ... come on. Never in my life has that happened ... but I've certainly been in front of a mirror deciding between two pairs of shoes.

Me too! I'm so happy to see Happy in this one ;)

The styling is really beautiful, it does the clothes so much more justice than they runway show did.

Looks beautiful, but the "ordinary" people idea is ironically the most pretentious thing about this. Models are ordinary people too. If you model you are a model. It's not like girls straight out of high school should not apply.

^I'm not sure I'd call them ordinary people. Pretty sure some of them are models (especially the old woman, and some agencies have a department for senior models), just not your "regular" girl.

These women are apparently all pros of one kind or another, just not the famous faces they normally use.

The mens ones are damn cool! I love everything about this campaign, such a nice change!

I don't think I like the menswear. I don't want to sound offensive or shallow but the men look like bums. They're not even groomed...the last guy looks so...indie  It just really brings me to the homeless chic style that was really in mode a few years ago when I was a teenager. There are other guys who aren't modelesque, but just as interesting they could have casted.

But the womenswear is perfection. Can't get enough of it.
