Lanvin Prefall 2007 Collection

I hate this too. I hate the looseness, I hate the boxiness, I hate the leggings.

I actually really like this!

i know a lot of people so far dont like the tights, but i think it makes this 20's style more modern, which i love. although i agree the whole legging thing has been WAY too overused, here it seems very appropriate.

can someone tell me what these pre-fall collections are about?...
what their purpose is?...
sorry- still learning....
and i couldnt find a thread for the general subject....

^To give us a hint of what is to come in the actual F/W show, I believe. I could easily be incorrect, however.

This style, here and at marc jacobs etc; is it 1920's? or what period?

You could say it's a healthy balance of the 1920's/30's. The 1920's were more of the flapper era than anything, while the 1930's were full of classy, ladylike pieces/shapes.

I was a bit surprised by the footless tights/leggings myself as there really weren't any in New York..

Pre-fall is a more commercial insight into the actual fall collection.

I really love the darkness of it all, great shape to all of it. Leggings might have a bad take because they're associated with scenester girls and retro dresses, but I think they look very grown up and sophisticated here. They really do wonders for the styling.

lanvin is back
after last seasons trash (in my opinion) this is back to what the brand does best
elegant and refined evening and day wear..reminds me of s/s 05
i'm so relieved :)

This is beautiful, so classic, so sophisticated.

The lighting/set is absolutely first-class as well. Breathtaking.

I couldn't agree more.

The last season was such a disapointment for me. This collection (minus the leggings) is chic, feminine and refined everything that Lanvin should be.

not true....
technically these mid/pre/resort/cruise/whateveryouwanttocallthem-collections serve as either fall or spring. the main catwalk shows presented in milan/paris/elsewhere are either summer or winter. there are 4 collections a year!!! one for every season.... :P

oh and since we're discussin lanvin here--if you look on the labels of the lanvin garments from this collection they will say automne (autumn/fall)...the pieces shown in the catwalk show in 2 weeks will say hiver (winter)....it's the same with a most other labels (like chanel--but it gets a little confusing there) as well but not everyone works in the 4 collections a season rhythm...

totall confusing,indeed

this mid-season S/S and A/W previews have just began the last couple years in an attempt to acquire more sales since alot of the houses haven't been doing so well profit-wise...

so will we start having four fashion weeks per year :woot: sometime in the future?
