Lara Stone

I'm just catching onto the Lara madness (very late). Her Eres shots are stunning, her body looks incredible.

^Yay! Another Lara fan :bounce::magic:
Those Eres shots have really made me start to think she has the best body in the business :crush:

Does anyone else find it vaguely amusing that right in the middle of this endless model size debate a girl comes along and becomes an industry sensation who could easily be a Playmate of the Month!!? How exciting!!

Does anybody else find it so exciting to witness the development of a real supermodel, (as much as I dislike using the term these days)? It just feels like this is really the moment where she goes from top model to the next tier. The influx of editorials, the LV campaign usually reserved for celebs, the covers of every major Vogue - even a bit of infamy through the "race" debate over the VP editorial and her alleged relationship with David Walliams. She's literally on the verge of breaking out from the fashion industry's bubble, and I can't wait to see what happens next...

Agreed, but I hope she stays focused on being a fashion model, even if it's perhaps a pain...because she is fantastic.

I have a feeling IMG is trying to turn her into a supermodel as best as they can. They helped do it with Gisele  and it worked. They tried to do it with Daria but it did not work, partly I think because she does not want to model let alone be a supermodel. So now they're going for the most obvious choice-Lara
The more I think about it, the better choice Lara is. I think she has more drive and passion than Daria, and is also more recognizable. Her look-BB resemblance, sexy, strong, dominatrix-esque, contradictory beauty-can really catch the public's eye. She's also very interesting and charismatic, something that a supermodel must be. Evidently she is very shy at first, but the life of the party with her friends, so people might be interested. She is also very versatile, which is also interesting. And of course she can really project in all of her pictures, which gives a lot of charisma and oomph to her that we don't see as often anymore, and also only a supermodel can have B)
She definitely could be a supermodel! I'm excited to see what will happen :crush::buzz:

i don't think Lara has the conventional face that can catapult her to super stardom à la Gisele. she can always take the Daria Werbowy route.

I disagree. She really has a very classic Northern European type of beauty. And then, added to that, her gap.

Strange as it sounds, some people find Gisele harsh and mannish. Lara is full of contradictions - soft but edgy, female but somehow masculine too.

Mmm, I personally think she can. Gisele does not have a conventional face to me, Daria's face is more conventional. Lara's face is a little intimidating, but it's a face that people can remember. I think that where we are right now, Karl Lagerfeld is right, we have to start with girls with memorable faces. He mentioned Sasha, and she might be a supermodel as well. But Lara has a striking Brigitte Bardot resemblance, and BB is a legend that most people know. Also Lara often gets cited and recognized for her body. And she doesn't really have competition like Daria did with Gemma Ward when she was starting. Daria is already a legend, she probably won't be a supermodel, but Lara is early on the legend path, which will make it easier to be a supermodel from there, if that makes sense.

maybe in Europe but Americans have a harsh view on femininity.all my male friends find Lara 'ugly' but fawn over Gisele.go figure.

Well there are a lot of Americans out there. A lot of people I asked like both Lara and Gisele. They thought they were strange at first, but they say they got used to it, and now it's obvious :D

If Lara started doing men's magazine covers, then people in general would start believing she's the new Gisele. It's like the way Cindy added Playboy to her portfolio to capture the attention of that side of the market.

Once the marketing machine is behind her, and the headlines are proclaiming she's the hottest export from planet fashion to hit the world of men, then these things gather speed.

A high fashion background and a body that can fill a swimsuit - that's a powerful combination. And she's a gorgeous girl - just because people are fond of styling her face to look strange doesn't mean she can't scrub up as conventionally sensational.

Besides, Victoria Beckham has managed to capture enormous mainstream interest without hardly ever cracking a smile, and she's not the only celebrity to maintain a no-smiles zone around their face.

In fact, Victoria Beckham illustrates the most important point of all - it's how much the person wants it. You can possess abundant talent and go nowhere, simply because you're conflicted about fame or are happier away from the spotlight. Others with more average gifts manage to turn them into gold through sheer hard work and force of will.

Lara could be the next big supermodel if she wants it. But if she wants to do something else with her life, that would be understandable. For everything you gain from fame, there are things you also lose.

^Agree completely-well said! :D:clap:

That is why I feel Daria is not a supermodel. I don't think she wants it, and for me it's visible in her photos. With Lara I see a lot of passion in her photos, which for me adds appeal and can really help her. I think she really likes what she does and enjoys it.

I do not know which magazine it should be, or what the secret should be. Gisele was on the cover of Rolling Stone and a bunch of other men's magazines, and dated Leo.
Perhaps Lara should go a similar route? I don't know how they're going to get Rolling Stone and men's magazines have REALLY gone downhill.
I would say VS Angel next because it's high profile and Carine does not seem to mind, but Karl I'm not sure about and I think she's too edgy for an Angel. And of course I don't want to make dating suggestions for her, though if she had to be with an actor I'd choose George Clooney because he's high profile, a man who's not likely to get married so she could easily move on and he's older. But yeah, I don't want to make suggestions for her personal life, and he has a girlfriend now anyway.
I know she has it, but is she herself ready? Is the public ready for her and the idea of another supermodel?
I still have hope though :magic:

okay Escale Cherie II,you need stop knocking Daria. she is infact a supermodel. just 'cause she doesn't wanna wh*re herself out doesn't make her any less of a supermodel.good luck to Lara and as much as i like her she doesn't have that extra soul selling factor to be in the footsteps of Gisele or Kate Moss. that's why i suggest the whole Werbowy route.a supermodel on her own terms.

I'm not knocking Daria, I'm just saying that Lara could be a Supermodel in the traditional sense and not in the modeling world, unlike Daria. Even though I don't care for her, it would be very stupid to say Daria is not a supermodel in her own way and in the modeling world. She's technically higher up there than Lara. But she might not want to be a superstar at all, where as Lara seems to want it more, maybe not extremely, but I'm sure she'd be happier with it.
I'm sorry if I've hurt you, or anyone else with my comments (and normally I'd never use this but now it seems appropriate) :flower:

^ I agree. Lara seems to want it. In the W interview recently she couldn't think of any other job where you get lots of $ for not doing that much (or something to that effect) and doesn't know what she'd do if she wasn't a model.
