Large Belt Buckles

D'ya think women's belt buckles will continue to be large? Kind of like Allison Daniel but cooler.

The reason I'm asking about the belt buckles is because a friend of mine made 2 really great ones for herself - 1 with an ocean motif (mermaids, a flipflop, etc.) and the other with hearts, a keyhole and key, some red glitter floating around in some kinda glaze. I told her to make a bunch of them to sell, but she thought maybe the trend would be over by the time she had them ready to sell.

Any thoughts on the subject?? Is it too late to get in on the trend?

I can see them dipping in and out of mainstream, but not necessarily consistent.

Personally, at this point, I don't really see them, yet I also believe that they are still wearable.

So, I don't see them as an "at the moment" trend, but I'm sure there's a market somewhere.

Buckle sizes are so personal - I don't think any size of buckle really goes in or out of style. That's my 2 cents, anyway. But if it's a question of business, diversity of product is a necessity. Perhaps she could make things to add to shoes and hats instead of buckles only? Just a thought.

Big belt buckles are nothing if you live out here in Texas and are a cowboy (not sure if any cowgirls (not the teenyboppers who fell in love with cowgirl/country trend two years ago and last year) have any big buckles themselves). But if you're talking about big belt buckles, I kind of remember back in 1997 how some ladies had these buckles that look like big flowers. I had no problem with big belt buckles on ladies. Especially if you're talking about belt buckles with fancy designs. Of course in 1997, flared jeans were certainly cool (not saying they aren't cool anymore. Would be interesting if they brought back the big elephant ear bellbottom jeans and made them trendy among ladies). Could they resurface again? Well, I look at it like this. If someone was dumb enough bringing back '80s fever, then anything's possible.
