From Fashion Wire Daily:

LA’s Top Ten Fall Looks

April 05, 2004 - Los Angeles, CA

The Mercedes-Benz Los Angeles Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios wrapped up Friday after a splendid show from Louis Verdad that included his sexy but elegant 40s style silhouettes in lush fall hues and tweedy textures.

Eduardo Lucero’s mix of ‘20s and ‘40s styles (shirred draped satin gowns, wide trousers, off-the-shoulder dresses n’ camisole tops) were adored by Lucero fan Heather Mills, spotted at the show sans hubby Beatle Paul McCartney, darn it.

And there were a lot of rocked- out duds on the Rock and Republic fashion show featuring Shannon Elizabeth, that rock fashion plate Tommy Lee, Taryn Manning, Nicky Hilton and Damon Dash.

But as the smoke (or was it just smog) clears, some top looks have emerged from the LA Fall 2004 collections.

Grab a pencil. Make a shopping list.

1.Leggings: Wear ‘em with everything from satin gowns to velvet tops to long or cropped jackets… It’s the new fall leg.

2. Vintage menswear fabrics and patterns and feminine tiny floral prints. Think exploded herringbone checks, mannish stripes or plaids. Mix, don’t match, for a truly hip look.

3 A draped fitted blazer with oversized shoulders (remember the ‘80s?)

4. Be like the leaves on the trees. Turn fall colors such as veggie hues: carrot, eggplant, squash, pumpkin, zucchini and broccoli.

5. Brights are big, hot pink, wild purple, neon green. But brown is the new black. Again.

6. Be fur-ocious. Lots of faux fur touches on collars, cuffs and necklines.

7. Hit the Disco with shirred stretchy dance dresses. Wear your hair big. No, bigger!

8. Be a flapper in a ‘20s style slinky silhouette, drop waist dresses and round toed shoes. Oh you kid.

9. Flash back to the ‘40s with tweedy mannish separates: fitted jackets, tailored vests, straight mid-calf skirts and wide trousers. Try on a bowed blouse and pin a faux flower on your lapel.

10. Layer up. Wear a little leather jacket over long sleeved Ts and camisoles. Put on fall-hued T on top of another. There ya go!

I love these kind of lists- they make me laugh

I did and I'll be sure to pick up some leggings on my way home . . .

My favorite line is that "brown is the new black" - I recorded a song that has that line in it!

Here is an impressive list of things on the web that are the "new black"
