Eugenia Silva and Armani sponsor photography auction
Friday, May 02, 2008
(NEW YORK) Eugenia Silva got the Armani action started early, when the Spanish beauty (and brand ambassador) wrangled the Italian fashion house to host a photography auction at 401 Projects to raise funds for Costa Verde International School, Mexico's first all-green school. "It'll get built when we raise enough money," said Silva as she convinced guests to bid on the 133 lots on display.
Eyeing a Solve Sundsbo piece, Silva proved to be a woman of her words. "I'm building a house at Formentera, this 'green' island just south of Ibiza you can only get to by ferry," she said. Mark Seliger, who lent his space for the event, relaxed in his office, chatting with Silva about the prospect of shooting Flamenco bullfighting in Seville. "We tried to do it, but it was hard," admitted the photographer, whose band Rusty Truck is due to release a new album, Luck's Changing Lanes, in July. "Did you go with someone Spanish?" Silva teased.
Silva's friend and fellow model Liliana Dominguez was also in on the eco action, discussing progress of an ecological reserve south of Puerto Vallarta that she helped erect. "We want to eventually build an environmentally-conscious hotel on the land," she said, revealing that she'd just been shot by Tom Ford for an upcoming perfume and eyewear campaign. "We put lots of money in the pot so we don't get a nasty Hilton," she laughed.
So that's what's she's been doing lately! Great!
