Liu Wen wore a custom black and ivory look reminiscent of the 1950s, when Karl Lagerfeld was designing for Jean Patou. The gown was handmade in our atelier and Tory reimagined a vintage silhouette with contrasting materials. The bodice was sculpted from black grosgrain ribbons, each individually hand-sewn and engineered to curve around the body, with layers of tulle and hand-painted silk organza flowers.

Dan Cui also contributed to the vision of the dress.

So… she stayed for a few days last week in NYC, just like Gucci in Milan, maybe something happened. Could be a repeat. There’s a certain CD (well, two actually) who has been all over her recent Instagram posts – maybe that’s a sign!

One reason she left the US, that we know of, was for contractual obligation with L’Oreal (and bet if it weren’t for that, think she would be at Chanel cruise). Oh, that earlier NYC trip was probably fittings for her Met dress? IDK maybe.

Even though she’s no official ambassador, since she’s nearby, see if she’ll attend Gucci cruise in Seoul given her integral role last year and this year. Or if her schedule is free from other duties.

This year is the eleventh time that Liu Wen has been invited to Met Gala. Let us follow the camera and prepare for this Met Gala red carpet with Liu Wen. Go to designer Tory Burch's studio to try on the dress. The inspiration comes from designer Karl Lagerfeld's haute couture in Paris in the 1950s. After seeing the actual product, he was deeply attracted by the hand-stitched camellia design on the skirt. Liu Wen felt deeply honored to have had several cooperations with Karl. She recalled the details of past cooperation, and the past of going to Paris for the first time to participate in the Chanel fashion show is still vivid in her memory. In Liu Wen's eyes, Karl treats his work rigorously and seriously, "Is an artist full of imagination, who can bring unconstrained imagination to friends who like fashion." At the event site, the simple and elegant dresses are paired with neat makeup, stretching the confidence and full of aura.

There’s a Bulgari event coming up in China where Liu Wen is the face of, see if she’ll be here or elsewhere and preoccupied.

She followed Andrea Sachs (swore she already did in the past). Doesn’t mean anything or that’s a hint.


Folks are saying she shot a campaign in Paris last week… they gave a name but think that’s kind of awkward(?), but if so, it makes sense too. We’ll see. (Wishful thinking it could be for a cover and editorial spread though.)

It seems she’s been in Italy somewhere and shooting as of now/today. People are saying it’s a campaign for an Italian brand, others say it’s for Vogue… potentially cover. Sounds too good. Gonna take this with a grain of salt although these rumours have been fruitful and correct sometimes.

Her message this morning evokes positive vibes as if it’s indeed a good project to look forward to.


IMO this could be the next installment for Bulgari – she’s in Italy, they just wrapped up their newest collection, she’s probably there for meetings (and possibly utilised), and she probably met or aware of some of the people that are part of the brand’s famiglia, hence followed Anne Hathaway. The drawback is Liu Wen is not endorsing or ambassador for their jewelry (at least to my knowledge). But they are still under one roof and possibly crossed paths. My takeaway with no proof! :lol:

Let’s hope they were right and not me.

EDIT: Jacob K pretty much confirmed that it’s for Versace!


Never mind. Maybe she was there for Versace? If Irina and M&M indeed shot the FW23 campaign, then it could be that. Everything happened yesterday so it all fits the timeline… as long it’s not OG. Could also explain her following Anne (of course!).

Is this the right time where The Society do a package offer with their girls? More importantly, Capri/Versace’s investment and prospective sales in China post-pandemic, makes sense to cast Liu Wen marketing-wise. They even signed Li Yuchun which makes this more probable.

We’ll find out eventually.

What could happen in the next couple of days:

A) She’s doing Versace x Dua Lipa tomorrow in Cannes

If not she should be in China soon for:

B) An award ceremony this Wednesday, she’s on the guest list


If she’s doing Versace then guess she was probably there for fittings(?) last Friday… and not a campaign. Or maybe it’s an editorial for D Repubblica? What else?

Not to give false hope but can’t ignore Jacob’s comment on Instagram and all relevant info and rumours. Could still be a campaign/editorial and not do Dua’s show.

Jacob, Anne and Mert were all red herrings.

It appears she was in London/England, presumably, Sunday-Monday. People online have ideas, but we’ll see.

So, it’s turning out that Cannes will be a no-show (sorry, got that wrong!)? But think some of us would rather have her go after the jobs and her priorities: NYC, Beijing, Paris, Seoul, Milan/Italy, London/England and Beijing again.

At least four potential projects in the works TBA.
