She is the only model who I feel has exemplary taste off the catwalk. She is just as much a fashion icon as Miss Moss. In fact, I would love it if she would design her line of clothing. How old is Liya, by the way?

If indeed Liya is being phased out of Estee, I would not be surprised. I knew from jump that her ads and images would not be as prominent as Carolyn's would be. Add to that the signing of Gwyneth Paltry and that was a given.

I can't believe Estee Lauder would even consider terminating her contract, she is such an asset to them, she is a WHO spokesperson, Vogue cover girl, etc.. maybe its Liya who can't keep up with the obligations of her contract due to her charity causes. I just find it really bizzare if Lauder wants to get rid of her.

Most cosmetics contracts require their models to work 2/3 weeks for them in an entire year. This includes shoots, commercials and public appearances. I doubt that Liya couldn't make the time for them and considering the fact that a model who willingly lets go of a huge cosmetics contract is largely unheard off....especially with the kind of money and exposure these brands have to offer. It would be career suicide on her part. Lauder is gearing towards promoting their new girls: Anja and Hilary, which means that they had to get rid off someone
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see the details on this.

Oh it will all be very amicable and Liya is too classy to say anything. I bet Lauder is paying her a HUGE sum as a kissoff.

I don't really care for Liya's editorials. I live for her candids and runway pics. She is the only model I have ever seen that looks like she is WEARING runway clothes and that they are not just a costume. Also, like Claudia Schiffer, she has unerring fashion sense for a model. Now that sounds lame, but what I mean is this-I don't think most models have great fashion sense. Clothes look good on them yes, but they are tall and skinny, so that is a moot point. Very few models take it above and beyond. Along with Liya and Claudia, Helena Christensen and Kate Moss also have great style.
